Yesterday at approximately 1930 hours, Engine 401 provided mutual aid coverage for Hasbrouck Heights while they operated a 2nd commercial building fire. While providing town coverage, Engine 401 and Moonachie FD operated at a 4 car MVA on Route 17 S. All units were back in town at 2239 hours.

Response on 4/21/26: Yesterday, at around 16:00 hours, Car 400 and Engine Company 401 were requested into the Borough of Little Ferry for a working fire on Summit Circle. All SH units were back in service at 1750 hours. Photo credit to respected photographers.

Response on March 15th, at approximately 12:45 hours. Fire Department was requested to 80 Leuning St for a report of smoke from the roof of a commercial structure. Car 400 shortly arrived on scene and confirmed the report of smoke coming from the roof of a 1 story commercial building. Companies investigated and quickly knocked a fire that had started in the roof solar panel unit. Mutual aid was received from Little Ferry and Hackensack FD.

This afternoon, members took time to sharpen up their skills with refresher training which included hose line deployments/techniques, pump training, and aerial ladder operations.

Yesterday, at 1715 hours Engine 401 was requested mutual aid into Moonachie at 1 State St for a 3rd alarm fire in a commercial warehouse. FD units were back in service at 1933 hours.

Public safety reminder! Clearing snow from fire hydrants is crucial for public safety.

Here’s why:

Quick access: In case of an emergency, firefighters need to be able to access the hydrant quickly.

Saving time: Clearing snow from hydrants saves precious time, allowing firefighters to focus on putting out the fire.

Preventing accidents: Blocked hydrants can lead to accidents or injuries if firefighters have to waste time searching for an accessible hydrant.

Residents can help by:
• Clearing snow at least 3 feet around the hydrant
• Making sure the hydrant is visible from the street
• Being mindful of hydrant locations when snowblowing or plowing

The BIG guy Santa will be making his way around the Township on Friday December 19th, thanks to the members of the South Hackensack Fire Department! Look for Santa around 5pm! WHEN YOU HEAR THE SIRENS AND MUSIC, MAKE SURE YOU COME SEE SANTA!
