🐻 A Friendly Reminder: Keep Our Bears Wild & Our Community Safe! 🐻
As we head into another beautiful season in South Fork, we want to remind everyone about the importance of securing your trash and keeping garbage picked up.
When bears find an easy meal in our trash, they can quickly learn to associate people and homes with food. Once that behavior develops, it can create dangerous human-bear conflicts — and unfortunately, it’s often the bear who pays the ultimate price.
💚 Our bears’ lives depend on the choices we make.
Please help by:
• 🔒 Keeping trash cans securely closed and inaccessible to bears. BEAR PROOF containers over Bear resistant!
• 🗑️ Picking up spilled or scattered trash immediately
• 🚮 Never leaving bags of garbage outside where bears can reach them
• 🐾 Checking your property after a bear gets into trash and cleaning up every bit of garbage they may have scattered
Even if a bear gets into your trash, our responsibility doesn’t end there. Please make sure the area is thoroughly cleaned up so the bear isn’t rewarded with another meal when it returns.
Living alongside wildlife is one of the things that makes our community special. By securing our trash, we can help keep our bears wild, reduce human-bear conflicts, and give these amazing animals a better chance to remain safely in the wild.
A secure trash can may seem like a small thing — but it can make a life-saving difference. 🐻❤️
Thank you for doing your part to protect our wildlife and our community!
