Earlier this afternoon, the South Farmingdale Fire Department was alerted for a motor vehicle Accident, overturned auto with entrapment on Plitt Avenue. Firefighters and EMS personnel quickly arrived and immediately secured the overturned vehicle, and rendered assistance to the occupant who had self extricated. Stabilizing a vehicle in this condition relies on advanced training and experience. This is what we train for. The vehicle was secured and the injured was transported to a local hospital.

🌡️ Extreme Heat Alert‼️

Dangerous heat is expected today and poses a serious risk to anyone exposed to the sun, especially those who are physically active, heat-sensitive, older adults, young children, and individuals with underlying health conditions.

Please take precautions to stay safe:

☀️ Avoid being outdoors in direct sunlight between 10:00 AM and 5:00 PM whenever possible.

💧 Stay hydrated by drinking plenty of water throughout the day.

❄️ Spend the hottest part of the day in an air-conditioned or otherwise cool location.

🌀 Be aware that fans and open windows are not sufficient to cool buildings without air conditioning and may not prevent heat-related illness.

🚫 Consider postponing or cancelling outdoor activities during the hottest hours.

⚠️ Additional impacts are possible today, including poor air quality and power interruptions due to increased electrical demand.

🥵 Heat of this intensity can quickly become life-threatening without proper hydration 💦 and adequate cooling❄️
