Your Voice, Your School, Your PTA: Get Involved This Year (PLEASE NOTE LOCATION CHANGE)

We invite you to join us for our next meeting on June 8 at 5 pm at Hillside Pizza/Powder Hollow at Yankee Candle (Treehouse has concert on Monday), to learn more about the DES PTA and participating in our important yearly elections. Whether you're a seasoned member or brand new to our community, this is a fantastic opportunity to get involved.

As many of you know, the PTA plays a vital role in supporting our school. We provide school supplies to staff at the start of the year, fund field trips, and contribute to mini grants that make meaningful experiences possible for our students, such as musical instruments and other enrichment opportunities. None of this happens without parent volunteers.

This year and next, a couple of our long time volunteers are stepping down as their children graduate from 6th grade. Their departure leaves significant gaps in our leadership team. To remain a strong, viable PTA that can continue offering all of these programs, we urgently need new parents to step forward. Your time, energy, and ideas truly make the difference between what the PTA can do and what the PTA is able to do.

We have several open positions, each a one year commitment. If you're interested in taking a more active role, we encourage you to consider running for a position. Simply reach out to us at [email protected] to express your interest.

The Deerfield Mile is returning this Saturday and we still need volunteers! This annual event brings together elementary-age kids and their families for a fun run, followed by a community afterparty with music, snacks, and activities.

There are lots of ways to help:
• A prep meeting the Wednesday evening before the race
• Morning setup on race day
• Volunteer roles during the race itself
• Bringing activities for the afterparty—lawn games, face painting, or any fun outdoor ideas you’d like to share

What a wonderful Teacher Appreciation Week we had! Thank you to all the families and community members who helped us spoil our hardworking DES staff this week. The teachers' lounge was stocked with snacks and treats; the front walk displayed messages of gratitude; and staff enjoyed chair massages, local plants, a catered lunch, and custom sugar cookies.

Special thanks to Hillside Pizza, Mill River Farm Market, Bittersweet Bakery & Cafe, Danny Cochrane (DES parent + massage therapist), and Sylvia Smith (DES parent + baker extraordinaire) for making the week a success! But most of all, thank you, DES teachers and staff, for all you do for our students and their families. 💗
