📢 OFFICIAL ANNOUNCEMENT FROM THE TOWN OF CINCINNATUS

The rising cost of electricity has pushed too many of our residents, seniors, and small businesses to the breaking point. NYSEG’s delivery charges continue to climb without clear justification, and these increases are forcing families to make impossible choices.

Tonight, the Town Board took decisive action.

🔥 We have passed Resolution #1 of 2026 — a formal demand for immediate review of NYSEG’s delivery rates and the lack of transparency behind them.

This resolution calls on the New York State Public Service Commission to investigate these escalating charges, require real cost controls, and protect rural communities like ours from being unfairly burdened.

Rubber‑stamping rate increases without explanation will no longer be tolerated.
Cincinnatus is demanding answers, accountability, and fairness.

And we’re not stopping here.
We are calling on communities across New York — small or large — to join this fight. No town should stand alone in defending its residents from unjustified utility costs.

We cannot ask our residents to choose between putting food on the table and keeping their lights on.
Cincinnatus is standing up, speaking out, and pushing back.

— Town of Cincinnatus

UPDATE- We have received an overwhelming response from other towns and villages requesting a copy of our resolution.
Please email our town clerk at
[email protected] to request a copy for your town.

Thank you to the towns taking action and filing resolutions. The more municipalities that stand together, the harder it is to ignore the impact these delivery charges are having on our residents. This is how we build real pressure for change. We appreciate your support.

With some winter weather on the way - here is a very important reminder:

Don’t Crowd the Plow!

With winter in full swing and the roads getting slick, and projected to get pretty nasty the next few days it’s time for a friendly reminder to keep your distance from snowplows. These hardworking crews are out there day and night, battling the elements to keep our roads safe. They’re not just clearing snow; they’re saving lives!

Here’s why it’s important to stay back:
❄️ Limited Visibility: Plow operators have large blind spots. If you’re too close, they may not see you.
❄️ Flying Debris: Snow, ice, and even rocks can fly up from the plow blade.
❄️ Wide Turns: Plows are heavy and make wide, unpredictable movements to clear roads efficiently.
❄️ Salt Spreaders: Following too closely can damage your vehicle and make driving more hazardous.

🔑 The Rule of Thumb: If you can’t see the mirrors of the plow, the driver can’t see you!

Let’s all do our part to make sure everyone gets home safely this winter. Respect the plow, give them room to work, and slow down when you see one on the road. Together, we can keep our community safe during these icy months!

Drive safe and stay warm, friends.
