Severe weather safety is a passion of mine.
Tying that in with a vulnerable population that is forgotten too often when it comes to weather is substantial because it is life or death.

This campaign is sponsored and truly made possible thanks to 7-Eleven, Speedway, Ashley's Pastry Shop and Reiter Dairy! Not only them, but the beautfiul volunteers who help with assembly each year.

This past weekend we took another step toward improving patient care by creating and placing sensory kits on our medic units. 🧩🚑

These kits are designed to help calm and comfort patients—especially those with autism, dementia, anxiety, or sensory sensitivities—during what can often be a stressful and overwhelming situation. Each kit includes items like fidget tools, noise-reducing options, and other tactile supports to help patients feel more at ease while we provide care.

Emergencies don’t look the same for everyone, and neither should our approach. By adding sensory kits to our units, we’re making sure we meet patients where they are—physically and emotionally.

This is a simple addition that can make a big difference: reducing anxiety, improving communication, and helping us deliver better, more compassionate care when it matters most.

Proud of our team for continuing to find ways to serve our community with empathy and innovation. đź’™

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Clark County Recognizes Severe Weather Awareness Week: March 15–21

The Clark County Emergency Management Agency is reminding residents that Severe Weather Awareness Week in Ohio runs from March 15–21, 2026, highlighting the importance of preparing for spring and summer weather hazards such as tornadoes, severe thunderstorms, flooding, and lightning.

Severe weather can develop quickly in Ohio, making preparedness and early warnings critical for protecting lives and property. Clark County EMA encourages residents, businesses, and schools to take time this week to review their emergency plans and ensure they know what to do before severe weather strikes.

As part of Severe Weather Awareness Week, a Statewide Tornado Drill will be held on Wednesday, March 18, 2026, at 9:50 a.m. Participation in the drill is optional, but Clark County residents, schools, and workplaces are encouraged to take part and practice moving to a safe location.

“Severe Weather Awareness Week is a great reminder for everyone to review their plans and know where they will go if a warning is issued,” said the Clark County EMA Director Michelle Clements-Pitstick. “Taking a few minutes now to prepare can make a critical difference when severe weather occurs.”

During the drill or an actual tornado warning, individuals should move to a basement or an interior room on the lowest level of a sturdy building, away from windows.

Preparedness Tips for Clark County Residents:

• Have multiple ways to receive weather alerts, including a NOAA Weather Radio, local media, or trusted alert apps.
• Identify a safe shelter location at home, work, and school.
• Prepare an emergency kit with essentials such as water, medications, flashlights, and batteries.
• Secure outdoor items that could become dangerous in high winds.
• Review your family communication plan in case severe weather occurs when family members are in different locations.
Residents are encouraged to stay weather aware throughout the spring storm season and monitor trusted weather sources for updates.

REMINDER: OHIO BURN BAN STARTED TODAY

(March 1st), Ohio's Spring Burn Ban goes into effect. No open burning is allowed between 6:00 AM and 6:00 PM during March, April, and May.

This law is in place to prevent wildfires, as dry conditions( dead, dormant vegetation)and high winds make fires spread quickly. Please follow the rules and help keep our community safe!
