🗳️ STREET REPLACEMENT RENEWAL – WHAT DOES IT MEAN?

We want to help clarify the Street Replacement Renewal that will appear on the upcoming ballot.

This is NOT a new tax. This is a renewal of an existing levy that residents have previously approved to help fund street replacement and improvements throughout the Village of South Charleston.

A vote in favor of the renewal allows the Village to continue receiving the funding currently used for maintaining and replacing our streets. Without renewal, this existing source of funding would expire.

This renewal is about continuing the investment in our community's streets, not adding a new tax.

We encourage all residents to stay informed and make their voices heard on Election Day!

🛣️ INFORMATION FOR SOUTH CHARLESTON RESIDENTS:
STREET RENEWAL
Residents of the Village of South Charleston will see a street renewal measure on the upcoming ballot. We want to take a moment to explain what this renewal means and why it is being presented to voters.
What is the street renewal?
This is a renewal to continue with the ¼ percent income tax for the street repair levy.
What would the funds be used for?
These funds are strictly for the annual roadway repairs and construction; no monies will go towards equipment or salaries.
Why is this needed?
Our streets require ongoing maintenance and investment. Street renewal funding helps the Village plan for necessary improvements and maintain our roadway infrastructure.
What would this mean for residents?
The tax levy is an 8 year renewal. With an annual income of $50,000 this would cost the resident $125 a year.
When will resident’s vote?

🎒🚗 Back-to-School Driving Safety 🚸

📚 School is back in session! That means more children walking, riding bikes, getting on and off school buses, and more traffic on our roads.

As we head into a new school year, please remember to:

🚸 Slow down in school zones and residential areas.
🚌 Stop for school buses when their red lights are flashing.
👀 Watch carefully for children crossing streets and walking near roadways.
📵 Put the phone down and keep your attention on the road.
🚗 Allow extra time for increased traffic and congestion.
🚦 Obey all traffic signs and signals, especially around schools and crosswalks.
🏫 Be patient during drop-off and pick-up times.

A few extra seconds of patience can make a life-saving difference.

2026 Beggars Night for Clark County.

🎃 Beggars Night 2026 👻

Sheriff Chris Clark has announced that Beggars Night will take place on Saturday, October 31, 2026, from 6:00–8:00 PM.

Let’s work together to make it a safe and enjoyable evening for everyone in our community!

Please remember to:
• Use sidewalks and crosswalks whenever possible.
• Carry a flashlight or wear reflective clothing.
• Watch for children and pedestrians.
• Always drive carefully and stay alert!

The railroad crossing at Mound Street will be closed on August 3rd for seven days. The Port Authority is replacing the crossing. Thank you for your patience.

Good Morning,

The Village is currently working on a water main break in the 300 block of West Columbus Road (State Route 42).

We are asking if possible for any residents traveling this area to use Clifton Road to Berschet Road.

The Village at this time is not concerned with the potential of a boil advisory. If this changes we will update all residents.

Seasonal Maintenance Position Available

The Village is currently accepting applications for a Seasonal Maintenance Employee position.

Applications are available on the Village website. Hard copies may be obtained from the Village Clerk during regular business hours.

Position Requirements:
Must possess a valid driver's license
Available to work 20–40 hours per week
Must be able to lift up to 70 pounds
Must be available for on-call duties as needed
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Janitorial and general maintenance work
W**d trimming and grounds maintenance
Street maintenance and repair
Cemetery maintenance
Other duties as assigned
Position may potentially lead to part-time or full-time employment

Completed applications must be submitted no later than June 18
