A few weeks ago we had the pleasure of hosting a luncheon to celebrate and connect with some of the wonderful participants in Project Good Morning (PGM).

Project Good Morning is a program designed to help our senior and disabled neighbors maintain an independent lifestyle through daily check-ins with our dispatch team. These calls provide reassurance, connection, and peace of mind for both participants and their families, knowing there is daily contact with a loved one.

We are grateful to our participants for allowing us to be part of their daily lives and thankful to our dispatchers for the care and dedication they bring to each morning call.

If you or a loved one would like to be a part of the program, or have more questions, please visit our webiste at https://www.southburlingtonvt.gov/334/Emergency-Communications-Center or call us at 802-658-7969 for more information about signing up.

It’s that time of year when we start enjoying longer days, even as we wait for the warmth to catch up. IT. IS. COMING! And when it does, we’ll be out on our bike paths and in our parks, making the most of every minute.

In the meantime, we're looking for few great people to join our Summer Bike Patrol. We're looking for enthusiastic folks who want to be outside and want to help keep the amazing place it is. These positions are a great fit for college students who may be eyeing a career in policing or public service.

Join our Summer Bike Patrol and get paid to ride, help your neighbors, pet dogs, enjoy a barbecue or two and basically enjoy the best few weeks (hopefully months) of the year.

Not all e-bikes are treated the same under the law. 🚴🚴

A few simple changes—like removing pedals or increasing power—can turn your e-bike into a vehicle that requires a license, registration, and insurance.

Check before you ride, make sure you know what applies to you.

Today we kick off National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week — a time to recognize the voices behind the scenes who make a difference every single day.

Our team of 6 dedicated dispatchers are the calm in the chaos, the steady voice in someone’s worst moment, and the critical link between the public and emergency responders.

They answer the calls no one else wants to make…
They guide people through the unthinkable…
And they do it all with professionalism, compassion, and strength.

They are truly the heroes behind the headset.

Join us in thanking our dispatchers this week for their unwavering commitment to keeping our community safe — 24/7.

It's been a quite a month for Lt. Pat Mulcahy. Not only was he recently promoted and sworn in as Lieutenant, but last week he completed the prestigious FBI-LEEDA Trilogy.

The LEEDA training series focuses on advancing public safety leadership at all levels of a police organization, with an emphasis on communication, critical thinking, organizational leadership and management, and professional and policy development. Completing the trilogy highlights Lt. Mulcahy’s dedication to continuing education and his commitment to bringing the very best to the City of South Burlington.

Congratulations, Lt. Mulcahy.

🐾 OWNER LOCATED 🐾

After a brief crash course in dispatching (photo in comments) Finn's Dad is on his way to pick him up.

🐾 FOUND DOG 🐾

This handsome guy was found wandering near Barrett St & Slocum St—apparently he wanted to help us out with some neighborhood patrols.

He is safe and sound in our dispatch center and is absolutely getting his fair share of treats.

If he’s yours, or you know who he belongs to, please give us a call at 802-846-4111.

Please share to help reunite him with his family!
