Dear Residents,
As promised, we are sharing information regarding potential developments in our town and will continue to do so as it becomes available.
The attached images are of the Crites farm and the Columbus Turf Sod farm.
Both projects will be seeking rezoning in the future as PUDs (planned unit development) that will allow some flexibility in housing options as well as the commercial areas.
Please note that no actual applications have been applied for and these are just sketches we are sharing. Our zoning states the land shall be under joint common ownership or control of the applicant at time application is made. Neither of these parcels have closed and are not under developers’ ownership at this time. They are doing due diligence and looking for our thoughts prior to closing.
Also please note that we insist the schools are part of the conversation and if an area is needed or presumed needed for additional schools, it will be part of the plan.
We are also looking at improvements to our wastewater plant to meet the proposed demand; we cannot stress enough the village will NOT assume debt that will fall back on our current residents. The need for expansion falls solely on growth and so will the cost.
As you review the sketches and shake your head, please remember land owners have rights, growth can’t be stopped, only steered, and both of the current owners have been approached by much less desirable users over the years and have held strong, not simply selling to the highest bidder, keeping the future of our village in mind.
