Mike Vaszari, 67, has been a musician since he was 16 years old. He decided to form his own musical group in 1956 when two good friends of his, Billy "Stix" Nicks and Ron Wiggins played on a television show. Vaszari plays mostly jazz and blues.

Summerfest 2011 will be Thursday, Friday and Saturday June 23rd, 24th, and 25th in Merrifield/Crawford Park. Summerfest will officially kick off at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday night with the Kids Youth Triathalon followed by the Movie/Musical Xanadu at 7:30 p.m. Fireworks at dark at approximately 10pm. Saturday will include a 5k run/walk, and the traditional concert.

The 42nd Leeper Park Art Fair will be held on June 20 and 21 on the grounds of the Leeper Park by the St. Joseph River in downtown South Bend. Times for the show are 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Saturday and from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Sunday. Light jazz will be presented throughout the fair. The show is sponsored by the St. Joseph Watercolor Society.
