Bring your lunch and learn more about securing a grant for your organization on November 9th! Our fall Nonprofit Workshop series ends with a presentation from Madi Rogers, Director of Civic Innovation at the city of South Bend, on data collection and analysis for grants.

Finding grants and telling your story is not enough to bring the money home. You also have to show the grantor that you know how to effectively use the money they will be providing your organization. In this session, Madi will share some best practices in collecting data that matters as well as tools to create convincing displays.

Save the date by RSVPing to our event, found in the comments.

We are 1 week away from part two of our grant writing series! Please welcome our guest, Madi Rogers! As Director of Civic Innovation, Madi has worked with many different teams to assist with bringing in millions of dollars to fund their initiatives. Recently, she helped the Office of Sustainability secure nearly $2mm.

This segment will focus on storytelling in grant writing. It isn't enough to put your application into the fold, you need to stand out and convince the grantor that your project will have an impact. Join us at Nonprofit Workshop: Storytelling For Grants next Thursday at 11:30 a.m. to learn how to do this well from a veteran grant writer!

Thank you to our guest, Scott Sandberg from the St. Joe County Public Library, at least week's Nonprofit Workshop for teaching our audience resources available to them as they look for grants! Here are ✨ FOUR KEY TAKEAWAYS ✨ that our TRC Manager gleaned from the presentation.

1. 📝 Understand what you are looking for first by creating a wish list of projects and how much you need to fund resources needed for that project.

2. 🔑 Get familiar with the databases available to you such as Grants.gov and identify keywords that would make your application stick out.

3. 🤔 Understand what the philosophy of the grant funder are. Ensure your goals and values align before getting too far down the road.

4. ⏲️ Ensure that your team has the capacity to gather any data needed for the application or formal reporting. Some grants are provided as reimbursements so you may need to have capital up front.

If you want to continue to learn more about grant writing, the second part of our series is coming up on October 12th! Head to our events tab to receive more information about our next workshop.
