Get to know me....
I was born and raised in Southeast Texas, beginning my public school journey at Sour Lake Elementary, then moving on to Henderson Middle School before graduating from HJHS in 1996. There, I earned my Bachelor of Arts in Communication Sciences and Disorders in December 2000. I continued my studies at Baylor, beginning graduate school in January 2001 and receiving my Master of Sci
ence in Communication Sciences and Disorders, leading to my career as a Speech-Language Pathologist. In June 2002, my husband and I moved to Porter, Texas, where I began my career and started a family. After living there for 13 years, we made the decision to move to Sour Lake to provide our children with a stronger educational foundation and to establish a pediatric speech therapy clinic. My sons, Blake and Chase, embraced their new school, entering HJ in 6th and 3rd grade. Now, they are grown—Blake graduated in 2022 and launched his welding career at Gulfspan through the HJ CTE program, while Chase is preparing to graduate in May. He plans to attend Blinn College before transferring to Texas A&M University to pursue a degree in Engineering. In September 2015, we founded Beyond Words Pediatric Therapy Services, which now provides both occupational and speech therapy to children across Southeast Texas. Our mission is to deliver high-quality, individualized therapy while fostering strong relationships with both medical professionals and families. Looking ahead, my next personal mission is to establish a nonprofit organization dedicated to further supporting families of children with special needs. Additionally, I remain committed to giving back to the HJ community through volunteer work and, hopefully, by serving on the HJISD Board of Trustees.
