August 9th at 5pm: "Sing and Sip" aka "Tea and Talk"
Come and join Dave Hirzel and Alice Cochran for a singalong of traditional sea music, including Sea Chanteys (work songs) and Forbitters (sailors' entertainment).

August 9th at 7pm: Salt Marsh Farming and Restoration for Coastal Resiliency in Downeast Maine
Tatia Bauer, of Maine Coast Heritage Trust, will discuss the history of farming hay on salt marshes in Hancock and current efforts to restore the functions of today's marshes.

August 10th at 10am: Walking Tour of Salt Marsh Restoration
Tatia will lead us on a 1.2 mile round trip walk in the Old Pond Reserve, off Old Route 1 in Hancock, to see restoration in progress and answer questions. Come see how the marsh is changing and how restoration treatments are being used. Please bring boots, binoculars, appropriate clothing and tick protection.

August 14th at 7:30pm: Calm Command: US Chief Justice Melville Fuller in His Times - Book Talk by Douglas Rooks
Join the Sorrento VIA and the Sullivan-Sorrento Historical Society for a talk by Maine journalist and author Douglas Rooks on his compelling new biography of US Supreme Court Chief Justice Melville Fuller who was born and raised in Maine, and later became a summer resident of Sorrento in the 1890s.

August 23rd at 3pm: Carl Little - Artists Downeast: In Memory of Philip Barter
The coast and country north and east of Ellsworth have been a rich source of art going back more than 100 years. From John Marin and Marsden Hartley through Susan Thompson and Chenoweth Hall up to Philip Barter and Gillyin Gatto, artists have found a muse in this part of Maine. In his slide talk, art writer and poet Carl Little will share a selection of images covering this region, with a special tribute to Barter who passed away in May. The Sullivan-Sorrento Historical Society will have a display on past local artists and the history of the Farmstead Barn.
