We are proud of our long-standing partnership with the Somerville Housing Authority and grateful for opportunities to connect directly with their residents!

In August, Second Chances had the chance to participate in SHA’s back-to-school backpack event, where our team distributed 700 pairs of socks, underwear, and t-shirts for children of all ages experiencing clothing insecurity.

Our longstanding partnerships allow us to connect people with the clothing they need through their existing relationships with trusted housing and service providers. For Second Chances, reaching our community directly can be an effective way to get clothing into the hands of those who need it most.

Our team had a great visit to the Mass Bay Veterans Center, a program of Volunteers of America

The Mass Bay Veterans Center provides 24 transitional housing units, seven (7) permanent housing units, and a wide range of supportive services for veterans working toward stability and independence. We are honored to provide residents and program participants with free, confidence-building clothing as they take the next steps in their journeys.

We appreciate the team’s warm welcome and the tour and are grateful for the chance to support our country’s veterans!

💙 Celebrate National Nonprofit Day with Second Chances! 💙

Every day, our community is donating unneeded clothing, shoes, and accessories, turning it into new opportunities. Instead of ending up in local landfills, this clothing becomes interview outfits, school clothes, winter warmth, and everyday essentials for neighbors experiencing homelessness, financial hardship, and other challenges.

👕 Help Us Keep Clothing Donations Flowing!

August and September are two of our busiest donation months. As you clean out your closets or prepare for a move, your donations make a real difference for neighbors experiencing homelessness and financial hardship.

Before you donate, please help us keep our collection sites safe and accessible:

✅ Place donations inside the collection bin, never leave bags or boxes outside.
✅ Use small- or medium-sized bags (no boxes, large bags, or hangers).
✅ Double-check your donation for personal items like keys, wallets, phones, or important documents before dropping them in a bin.
✅ If a bin is full, please visit another location or return another day.

We accept women's, men's, and children's clothing, shoes, and accessories in good, wearable condition.

Together, we can ensure your generous donations support people in need while keeping our donation sites clean and welcoming for the entire community.

We’re so grateful to Nesh for hosting their first public clothing drive in support of Second Chances!

🩲 Happy National Underwear Day!

A new pair of underwear may seem like a small thing, but for someone experiencing homelessness or financial hardship, it can make a world of difference.

At Second Chances, we provide new, packaged underwear to people served by our nonprofit partners because everyone deserves this basic essential. Thanks to the incredible generosity of our partners, including Bombas bas and Cocotree Kids, we have been able to distribute more than 1,100 pairs of new underwear to neighbors in need this year, through June.
