Somersworth Recreation Parks and Recreation Somersworth Parks and Recreation Department offers a diversity of programs for all ages to meet the needs of residents and non-residents.

The Recreation Department encourages wholesome and healthful use of leisure and recreation for the citizens of Somersworth. We hope you will discover and participate in many of the programs, events and trips that we offer.

Registration for our exciting new line up of basketball programs opens on Tuesday September 8th at 8a.m.

Grades 1 - 4 will be able to sign up for rec basketball which begins on Saturday Dec 5th.

Grades 5 - 8 will be able to sign up for travel basketball with practices beginning week of Nov 2nd.

You can sign up on rec desk for both programs beginning Tuesday morning. Space is limited and rec basketball is offering an early bird special that we would hate for you to miss out on.

Have you heard? A new era will begin this winter when the rec department will introduce a new unified basketball program. This program is designed to take our kids from the first time they play biddy basket ball right through until they hit 8th grade and are encouraged to join travel basketball. Did you know we have a walking Club that meets on a Tuesday night and walks various areas of downtown, our parks and cemeteries. This Tuesday we will meet at the Somersworth City Hall Parking lot at 6pm and take a walk around downtown Somersworth.
This walk is suitable for all abilities, and we would love to have you join us for this free program.

It's hard to believe that next Wednesday will see our next round of our Tiny Toppers program. Designed for children 2 - 4 years in age this program offers a way for our younger citizens and their caregivers to join us for some good old fashioned playtime. No phones, no fancy games, just sidewalk chalk, kickball., basketball and anything else we can think of. A great way to meet others and get outdoors during the dog days of Summer.
The program takes place at the Pines playground each Wednesday during September from 9.45 - 1030.
