Busy week for the members of Somerset Fire & Rescue.

We kicked things off Sunday by assisting Montgomery and Community Fire Co. with shoring up a residence after a vehicle struck and compromised a garage.

On Monday, our RIC was requested into Franklin Fire District 3 for a 2nd alarm structure fire. Shortly after clearing, our RIC was then requested into Franklin Fire District 2 for another 2nd alarm structure fire.

While operating at that incident, Franklin District 1 handled a working vehicle fire on Easton Ave, where mutual aid was requested from East Franklin.

On Thursday, we were again requested into Franklin Fire District 3 for a 1st alarm structure fire.

We wrapped up the week on Friday with our RIC being requested into Somerville for another structure fire.

Today marks 20 years since the loss of Foreman Kevin Apuzzio. Somerset Fire & Rescue proudly stands alongside the members of East Franklin Fire Department, remembering Kevin’s bravery, dedication, and the sacrifice he made in the line of duty. He is never forgotten.

During the final night of our Santa ride, Franklin Fire District 1 was dispatched to a vehicle fire on Route 287 northbound at exit 10. However, while en route, Car 56 received an update indicating the fire was located southbound at exit 9 in Piscataway. Upon arrival, Car 56 reported a well involved vehicle fire, which was subsequently extinguished by Engine 562 and Piscataway Fire units.
