A Heartfelt Thank You to Perry County

To the residents of Perry County:

Although the recent levy for the Perry County Board of Developmental Disabilities did not have the outcome we hoped for, we remain deeply grateful for the community’s engagement and support throughout this process. We want to extend our sincere thanks to everyone who took the time to learn about our services, share information, and cast a vote.

Despite the challenges posed by limited resources, our dedication to individuals with developmental disabilities and their families remains as strong as ever. We will continue to do everything we can to provide essential services, adapt responsibly, and work towards our vision of community without barriers.

We appreciate the trust this community has placed in us over the years, and we are committed to moving forward with transparency and resilience.

With gratitude,

David C. Couch, Superintendent

and

Caley Boyden, Transitional Assistant Superintendent

Today is a great day to change the batteries in your smoke detectors! Easy reminder 😉. VOTE YES ON TUESDAY!

10/31/2025

Mary Smith, trying to answer your question "What is the purpose of the committee?"; thanks for asking 🙂! We exist to try to increase awareness of the services provided by the Perry County Board of Developmental Disabilities, the excellent fiscal responsibility they have shown with the citizen's trust and funds, and the incredible innovations Perry County is leading the State of Ohio with. To top it off, we can give you this information and say VOTE YES ON TUESDAY because the PCBDD can't say that. We operate separately from them from time, resources, and any personnel screen carefully to avoid conflict of interest regarding political activity by government employees and agencies. Hope this helps! Ken Yuchasz

🌟When Home Isn’t Enough - RESIDENTIAL PLACEMENT COSTS FOR INTENSIVE NEEDS🌟
-
Some needs go beyond the home.
-
For people with intensive needs, residential care can be essential — and expensive.
In some years, it’s cost hundreds of thousands of dollars to support just a few people.

These needs are growing, and so are the costs. We’re committed to meeting them with care and responsibility.

This spotlight from the NLHS Panthers perfectly illustrates the core mission that your levy dollars support: creating a ‘Community Without Barriers’ where everyone can connect, contribute, and thrive.

Their team, led by Coach Kevin Board, isn't just winning games; they're showing us what a truly supportive community looks like by welcoming people with disabilities as valued coaches, teammates and friends.

Enriching Lives is the foundation of the many services and opportunities the Perry County Board of Developmental Disabilities (PCBDD) offers year-round from job coaching to daily living skills, PCBDD empowers people to gain independence and contribute their unique talents to local businesses and community, just like the NLHS Panthers.

Your support for the PCBDD levy directly fuels building a stronger, more inclusive Perry County.

🌟 Stretching Every Dollar - Annual Revenue vs. Expenses🌟
-
Same dollars, bigger needs.
PCBDD is still using funding levels from 2015 and earlier to support services in 2025.

Even though property taxes may go up, our levy amounts stay the same — they’re based on values from 2002, 2004, and 2015.
-
We’re doing more with less, and every dollar counts.

The Perry County Board of Developmental Disabilities (PCBDD) of Ohio provides supports to children and adults who have developmental disabilities.
