(Adapted from the Chief's Message) SPCEMS was established on April 16, 1983 as a joint effort between Pulaski County and the City of Somerset in an effort to insure that our citizens and visitors would have access to dependable, high quality emergency medical service. We are located in the rolling hills of south central Kentucky and are the primary emergency medical responder for Pulaski County, s

erving a population of approximately 60,000. We are also the primary emergency medical responder for a lake-locked portion of Wayne County, serving a population of approximately 2000. Our funding is derived from various sources including our county occupational tax, grants and service fee collections.

A huge THANK YOU to Major Matt Johnson and EMTs Kevin Frye and Cory Ehrsam for their assistance today in helping meet the needs of one of our hospice patients in her home in rural Pulaski County.
Not only did these gentlemen provide excellent care for our patient, but they also helped us keep her comfortably at home so she did not have to be transported to the hospital. Their compassion, quick response, and teamwork made a tremendous difference for both our patient and her family.
We would also like to thank Chelsea Blasingim, who took our initial call and immediately sprang into action. After hearing the need, she quickly connected us with Major Johnson, who did not hesitate to send assistance.
We are incredibly thankful for Somerset-Pulaski County EMS and all they do for our patients and the entire Pulaski County community each and every day. Your dedication and service do not go unnoticed! 💜

Wednesday, members of the Somerset-Pulaski County EMS Honor Guard along with Chief Sizemore and Major Johnson had the privilege of attending the Kentucky EMS Memorial Ceremony to honor and remember the EMS professionals who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to others.
It was a day of reflection, respect, and remembrance as agencies from across the Commonwealth came together to recognize the dedication, courage, and selflessness of those we have lost. Their commitment to caring for others will never be forgotten, and their legacy continues to inspire all of us who serve in EMS.
We are honored to stand alongside our fellow first responders and pay tribute to the fallen heroes of Kentucky EMS. May we always remember their sacrifice and continue to serve our communities with the same compassion, professionalism, and dedication they demonstrated every day.

During EMS Week, we are reminded how fortunate we are to serve such a supportive community. We would like to extend our sincere gratitude to everyone who provided meals, snacks, drinks, gifts, cards, and words of encouragement throughout the week. Your generosity and kindness mean more than words can express and serve as a powerful reminder of the appreciation and support behind us every day. Thank you for thinking of our crews and for continuing to support the members of Somerset-Pulaski County EMS during EMS Week and beyond.

This week — and every week — let’s give EMS crews a hand. 🚑⚠️ Slow Down or Move Over for all flashing lights and give them room to work on the roadside.

Protect the people who protect you.
