Good afternoon Pulaski County,
The US National Weather Service Jackson Kentucky has let us know that the heat will continue throughout tomorrow, but we are also going to see an increase in our storm/severe weather changes over the next 48 hours. Today, we are forecast to potentially see some thunderstorm activity in the late afternoon-early evening hours. Tomorrow (Saturday), NWS-Jackson has Pulaski County in the SLIGHT (Level 2) Risk of severe weather/storms. As always, we recommend you have a severe weather plan and stay tuned to verified local media (WLEX, WKYT, FM 106) or your weather radio to stay up to date with possible changing weather conditions. OEM will be monitoring the weather as the day goes on.

Good afternoon Pulaski County,
The US National Weather Service Jackson Kentucky has indicated that the extreme heat will continue at least through Saturday. They are advising that the elderly, pregnant, newborn, children and those suffering from chronic illness are the most vulnerable. If you have family or friends who live with or near you, please keep an extra eye on them. Drink plenty of water, even if not thirsty, wear loose fitting light colored clothing, and never ever leave anyone (including pets) alone in a closed car. Storm chances increase by Friday and Saturday, with Saturday possibly producing the heaviest rain chance. Your OEM will continue to monitor these conditions and keep you up to date.

The US National Weather Service Jackson Kentucky has a part of eastern Pulaski County as a MARGINAL risk for strong to severe storms today and tonight. Your Pulaski OEM will be communicating with NWS Jackson and making sure to keep you aware of the weather as the day goes on. Please continue to monitor local verified weather sources (WLEX, WKYT, FM 106, etc..) for the latest updates. and continue to consider a NOAA certified weather radio.

Today we met with members of the emergency safety team to plan and prepare for the Inaugural Lake Cumberland Open Water Swim Classic in October. A lot of planning goes into making sure our athletes and spectators are going to be safe in and out of the water.

We are honored to have the support of our community to make this a fun, safe and successful event!!

The US National Weather Service Jackson Kentucky has issued a forecast for possible heavy rain moving into our area early tomorrow morning (current estimates indicate in the 4-6 am timeframe) possibly affecting the morning commute and school bus routes. Right now, Pulaski County is in the MARGINAL range for weather effects. Good evening
NWS US National Weather Service Jackson Kentucky got back to us and stated that " With the loss of daytime heating, any storm that could make it to Pulaski County would likely be subsevere. In short... They could make it to your (Pulaski) county, but impacts will likely be less than they are in our northern counties right now.
We will continue to watch over the next couple of hours and provide updates as needed. Stay safe and aware.
