MISSION STATEMENT

The members of the Somers Point Police Department dedicate ourselves to ensuring the public health, safety and welfare and to continually strive to improve the quality of life within our community. We will always perform in the public interest and endeavor to meet their expectations by not tolerating or accepting anything short of hard, aggressive polic

e work. They want well trained, educated and unbiased police officers on the street who are as aggressive as the law allows, caring, courteous and friendly. They want strong supervisors and strong leaders to keep the separation between civilization and anarchy. To accept less from our members is to invite turbulent times ahead. It is of paramount importance that we secure the confidence, respect and cooperation of the public. The police profession must embody the highest attributes of every other profession. Not private profit, nor personal reward, but the service of the community is the earmark of the professional police officer. As we move forward we are reminded of the words of Theodore Roosevelt. 'This country will not be a good place for any of us to live in , unless we make it a good place for all of us to live in" Lest we never forget that the success of the Somers Point Police Department in the performance of its duties is largely measured by the degree of support and cooperation it receives from the people which it serves. We are still collecting items on the list below for two events we are participating in to give directly to Somers Point students. Our collection is running through August 27th.
Items can be dropped off to our Somers Point Police Department or mailed to 1 W. New Jersey Avenue Somers Point, NJ 08201.

PLEASE SHARE!

Our Somers Point Police Department is asking for your help with our school supply drive! Please share our post to help us get the word out as our collection runs now through Wednesday, August 26th.

We participate in two events that greatly benefit Somers Point students, who could use assistance with school supplies to be better prepared going into their school year.
Any potential left over supplies we donate to the teachers for their classrooms.

We created an Amazon Wish List, this will be shipped to our police department at 1 W. New Jersey Avenue Somers Point, NJ 08244.

Due to the large anticipated funeral services for a fallen Ocean City firefighter, Shore Road at St. Joseph Church will be closed on Thursday, August 6, 2026 from 8 AM to 1:30 PM.

Expect delays, and plan alternate routes.

NATIONAL NIGHT OUT IS TOMORROW, Tuesday, August 4th from 5:30 PM - 8:00 PM at John F. Kennedy Park.

This is a free community policing event!

There will be live music by the band Bigfoot at the pavilion. Make sure to bring your beach chairs for seating.

Gelly Ball South Jersey is fun for children and adults to play. Kid friendly blow ups from Party Perfect Rentals.

Dominicā€™s Cheesesteaks will be available to purchase, Nifty Sips Soda Truck and Kenā€™s Ice Cream Truck.

Come out and see us at the beautiful JFK Park for a fun, laid back time.

There are no dogs or pets permitted.
