National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week 2026

This week, we recognize the men and women behind the phones— our dispatchers.

They are the first first responders, answering every call for help, gathering critical information, and guiding police, fire and EMS when it matters most.

Their calm voice in chaos makes all the difference.

Thank you for everything you do.

The latest Severe Weather Outlook maintains a MARGINAL to SLIGHT risk for severe thunderstorms across the region through this evening. We are watching a broken cluster of thunderstorms moving across central Pennsylvania at this hour that have had a history of severe wind potential.

While warm temperatures in the upper 70s to low 80s along with dew points in the low 60s could help these thunderstorms maintain their strength as they move ENE across Pennsylvania, the limiting factors here are a) the loss of daytime heating as we approach sunset and b) overall available instability is in limited supply across the region. As we reach sunset and beyond, the severe threat will begin to diminish, though general showers and thunderstorms are still expected overnight.

⚠️⛈️ The threat for severe thunderstorms on Wednesday has increased across the Philly metro, southern NJ, and Delmarva. Exact timing of storms is uncertain, but the threat of damaging winds, large hail, and a brief tornado are possible in the afternoon and evening hours. Aside from the showers and storms, it'll be another exceptionally warm day with highs in the 70s to near 80° again.

Scattered showers and storms may persist overnight Wednesday night, but the severe thunderstorm threat is expected to end by 11 PM. Periods of light rain lingering into Thursday, and becoming much cooler with temperatures dropping into the 40s. Breezy conditions as well.
