Field day fun at Solon Middle School!

Students enjoyed activities on the SMS football field and inside the gymnasium, including volleyball, basketball, badminton, dodgeball, frisbee and team-building challenges.

The day gave students a chance to stay active, connect with classmates and celebrate the final stretch of the school year together.

What a great way to wrap up the year at SMS!

Parkside Elementary students were spellbound today during a special performance organized by the Parkside PTA featuring magician and mentalist Brenden Trojan!

Brenden amazed students with interactive magic involving Rubik’s Cubes, levitation, illusions and mentalism, leaving everyone wondering, “How did he do that?”

But beyond these captivating feats, he shared an important message: The real magic is inside each student.

“What matters is what you’re doing here, how you treat your friends, your family, your teachers,” Brenden said. “You are all the magic.”

Solon Middle School, here comes the Class of 2032!

Sixth graders are getting a special preview of SMS today as student leaders guide them through the building, answer questions and share what makes SMS such an exciting next step.

The tours offer a firsthand look at the many ways students can explore new interests, from clubs, athletics and extracurricular activities to courses in world language, music, digital arts, industrial technology, and family and consumer science.

We love seeing students ask thoughtful questions, meet new faces and start getting comfortable with the school they will soon call home.

We can’t wait to welcome them to SMS!

The countdown to high school is officially on for Solon Middle School eighth graders!

The Class of 2030 made its way through the halls during a spirited clap out led by the SMS drumline.

Next stop: Washington D.C.

Tomorrow eighth graders will head to our nation’s capital to visit landmarks including the Washington Monument, the Lincoln Memorial, the Jefferson Memorial, Arlington Cemetery and many other historic sites.

We wish our eighth graders a safe, fun-filled trip and all the best as they prepare for their next chapter at Solon High School!

Aloha, fourth grade!

Roxbury fourth graders marked their final days of elementary school with a Hawaiian-themed event at the Solon Community Center.

Hula dancers from Pacific Paradise Entertainment shared dances from Hawaiian and Tahitian culture, introduced students to traditional instruments including the ʻulīʻulī, ipu and pūʻili, and invited students to learn some dance steps of their own.

The celebration continued outside with games and activities, including tug of war, an obstacle course and a visit from Kona Ice to help everyone cool down.

Thank you to the Roxbury PTA and all of the volunteers who created such a special celebration for our students. We wish our fourth graders all the best as they get ready for their next adventure at Orchard Middle School!

Congratulations to Solon High School student Cailey Zelwin, who was honored with the Blood Cancer United Impact Award after leading a Student Visionaries of the Year campaign that raised more than $100,000 in memory of her brother, Cole.

Cailey served as a team manager for the seven-week fundraising program and organized sponsorship meetings, events and more than 700 mailed letters. Her team was one of only five in the program to raise more than $100,000.

Throughout the campaign, Cailey kept Cole at the heart of her mission. “We always say, ‘Be kind like Cole,’” she said. “I chose research as the pillar of my campaign so other kids don’t have to suffer like he did.”

Solon High School students also support Blood Cancer United through the American Cancer Youth Society’s Comets Crush Cancer team, advised by Melissa Creamer. This year, the team raised more than $9,000 in seven weeks.

SHS students interested in joining the American Cancer Youth Society and getting involved with Comets Crush Cancer can join the club’s Google Classroom.

We are proud of Cailey and all of our students using their leadership and compassion to make a difference for families affected by blood cancer. Read More: https://trst.in/OfqqRc
