Salinas Valley State Prison held multiple educational graduation ceremonies for 30 incarcerated students. The ceremonies were held Feb. 24-25, recognizing the students’ academic achievements.

The ceremonies were facilitated by Salinas Valley State Prison education and custody staff as well as Hartnell College. They celebrated individuals who successfully earned their high school diplomas while some also achieved associate degrees.

The temporary suspension of the distribution of all incoming correspondence, including priority mail, confidential (legal) mail, publications, special purchases, and vendor packages, has concluded. Effective today, February 23, 2026, the Division of Adult Institutions will resume distribution.

Per facility staff. Please notify the visiting guards at the podium when a Service dog needs to use the patio. Doggy bags should also be available at the podium.

Hello SVSP Families,

Effective immediately, the Division of Adult Institutions is temporarily pausing the distribution of all incoming correspondence, priority mail and confidential (legal) mail, publications, special purchases, and vendor packages to address a recent surge in contraband identified during mail processing.

The California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation remains committed to safeguarding staff and the incarcerated population.

Normal distribution of all incoming mail will resume on Monday, February 23, 2026.

Outgoing mail will continue to be processed during this pause

🎓The Education Department at SVSP will be celebrating students who have earned their AAs and GEDs as scheduled:

* FACILITY A GRADUATION - TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 24TH AT 10:00AM IN A VISITING
* FACILITY B GRADUATION - TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 24TH AT 11:00AM IN B VISITING
* FACILITY C UPPER GRADUATION - WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 25TH AT 9:00AM IN C VISITING
* FACILITY C LOWER GRADUATION - WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 25TH AT 11:30AM IN C VISITING
* FACILITY D GRADUATION - WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 25TH AT 10:00AM IN D VISITING

-Each ceremony will be approximately 2 hours in length.
-Each IP graduate will be allowed a maximum of 3 preapproved visitors at their graduation ceremony.
