Mission Statement:

The mission of KELCURT Foundation is to elevate community spirit and guide individuals and families into self-sustaining practices, helping to eliminate food insecurities and improve overall well-being utilizing the arts, sciences, education, music and literature. Vision Statement:

The KELCURT Foundation envisions a future where everyone shares knowledge, personal talents, lif

e experiences and resources through equitable access to food security, the arts and education, to elevate the lives and well-being of all. Non-Discrimination Policy:

The KELCURT Foundation / Soddy-Daisy Community Library does not discriminate against anyone for any reason. We have created a place where our patrons, no matter where they are in their human journey, can feel comfortable and respected. Values Statement:

The KELCURT Foundation’s culture is driven by integrity, empathy, and the desire to elevate individuals, families, and organizations to improve society as a whole. Community - We perceive the word community as a verb, an active coming together of persons with diverse backgrounds and ideas working together for a more dynamic future. Education - More than just learning the basics of reading, writing, and math, education is an ongoing process that brings body, mind, and spirit to higher levels. A full education incorporates the arts, sciences, life experiences, and the soft skills necessary for healthy interpersonal relationships. Food Sustainability - We believe that no one should ever have to go hungry. For those seeking food security, we will equip them with the informational tools to become self-sustaining. Needs Response - As the old saying goes, “If you’re not part of the solution, you’re part of the problem.” We believe that needs within the community should be sought out and addressed with action in a prompt manner. Stewardship - We believe that everyone has something to give, and that everyone has a responsibility to share those talents, abilities, and gifts to enhance the lives around them. Furthermore, we endeavor to provide opportunities for all to utilize their talents, abilities, and gifts in the elevation of others. Stewardship extends beyond human beings to encompass the earth and all of her residents and systems. Discrimination Policy - The KELCURT Foundation / Soddy-Daisy Community Library does not discriminate against anyone for any reason. At the KELCURT Foundation, all of these values were the inspiration at our inception, and are the daily motivation for our ongoing work.

We are so excited to officially share the SDCL 2026 Summer Reading Recommendations!

Putting these lists together has truly been a labor of love. Our team spent months reading, researching, debating favorites, and searching for books that would inspire curiosity, excitement, comfort, adventure, and connection for readers of all ages.

This year’s recommendations include everything from epic fantasy adventures and gripping mysteries to heartfelt contemporary stories, fascinating nonfiction, romance, horror, graphic novels, historical fiction, and more. Some titles are brand new, while others are beloved favorites that we think deserve to be discovered all over again.

These books were carefully selected by librarians, educators, and book industry professionals who genuinely love stories and the power they have to change us. We also encourage you to step outside your usual reading genres this summer — sometimes the book you never expected to pick up becomes the one you can’t stop thinking about.

Take some time to explore the lists, look up the titles that catch your attention, and let us know which books you’re excited to read. We truly hope these recommendations help you discover your next favorite story.

We hope you all know just how much we love this community. And when we hear that more families are struggling with food insecurity, we simply can’t stand by and do nothing.

Thanks to the incredible support of our community, we’ve been able to expand the KELCURTFarms Food Pantry here at the library. While we are not a food bank, we are here to help bridge the gap if you need a little help getting through the day or making it until your next trip to the food bank. Take what you need, no questions asked. You do not have to be a patron of the library to take advantage of the pantry. We’ll also continue offering free fresh produce whenever it becomes available.

We also continue to serve a free hot meal of seasoned black beans and rice to anyone who comes to the library. If you’re hungry, we want you to eat.

And beginning Tuesday, May 26th, our summer lunch program returns! Free lunches for children 18 and under will be available Monday through Friday from 12 PM–2 PM, thanks to our amazing partners at the J.A. Henry Community YMCA. And parents — please don’t sit hungry while your child eats. We’ll make sure you have something too. Afternoon snacks for children will also be available.

Then beginning the week of June 1st, we’ll once again offer take-home Sack Packs through our wonderful partners at the Chattanooga Area Food Bank.

The truth is, the cost of everything keeps rising, and so many families are feeling the strain right now. If you need help, please let us help. There is absolutely no shame in needing a little support sometimes.

And if you’re in a position to help supplement the pantry, we would be deeply grateful. This community has always taken care of one another, and together, we’ll continue to do exactly that.

We love you all! ❤️

UPDATE: So many wonderful members of our community have asked for a wishlist for the pantry, so here is the start of one - we are grateful for food items as well as monetary donations!❤
