Many are aware of the new walking paths south of town along the Bailey Creek Road. A recent grand opening saw lots of eager users of the new trails. More trails are coming in the future. Our city staff have been hard at work continuing improving the walking path area. Lot’s of new trees have been planted with more to come! This will be a huge asset!

Just this week the city staff completed a brand new parking area to access the north end of the walking path. I asked last week about getting this access area developed and Director Squires and his staff had it done this week!
I am very proud of our city employees. In my opinion they are under appreciated and often do a thankless job, often in very undesirable conditions and even while you are asleep. Many of our employees do their awesome work unseen, an example is Deputy City Clerk Melissa McDowell who has put many hours of work in these walking trails behind the scenes.

Just when you think you’re community has knocked it out the park, it happens again. The Friends of the Park and others who made possible a facelift on the basketball court via their hard work and grants they applied for. A+ Contractors took on the task of removing the old pavement and laying new. During this process Cody and his business, A+ Contractors donated numerous loads of gravel to improve the court surface by raising the court level above ground level.

Through this process Cody saw that the old volleyball courts needed resurfacing which would result in much more recreational opportunities for the community.

Cody Thompson (A+ Contractors) offered to pave the tennis courts at NO cost to the city! FREE, a complete donation to the community! This is absolutely an incredible donation worth thousands of dollars!

Preliminary plans are to leave the basketball court primarily a basketball court and to put pickleball courts in the old tennis courts thereby hopefully eliminating court use conflicts for the two user groups. For those unaware, the old tennis courts is the paved area between the city park bathroom building and the pavilion.

I am just blown away by our community and the incredibly exciting things coming to Soda Springs! The future for Soda Springs is incredibly bright and exciting!

My sincere thanks and appreciation to Cody & Melissa Thompson and A+ Contractors! Your example of helping make your community a better place for all, is one I hope the entire community takes note of. Thank you!

Soda Springs community, when you see Cody and Melissa, please thank them and let them know how much their involvement in our community is appreciated!

I also want to acknowledge Director Dan Squires and all the city staff who worked with Cody to make this happen.

Super excited about the basketball court! Thanks to the Friends of the Park, Laura Lind, Alana Burns and Cody Thompson A+ Contractors and others, the basketball court at City Park is getting a major makeover. This community never ceases to amaze me. In the background you can see the work underway on the mural for the wall behind the courthouse. So exciting and I can't wait for the community to show it's pride during the 4th of July/America 250th celebration this summer! More great news in the future!

God bless all of our service members, our veterans and their families. Thank you for your many sacrifices. Honor and thank a veteran when you encounter one. They have chosen to sacrifice for each of us. My thanks to each service member and veteran. May we never forget and take for granted the ultimate sacrifice so many have made so that we might have and enjoy the freedoms we do.

Attention please:

As many are aware Soda Springs' Main Street was completely reconstructed over the last 1-2 years. A large part of that project was done however a portion still remains to be completed.

That northern portion of the Main Street project near the railroad tracks will have work starting next Tuesday or Wednesday. Main Street from approximately in front of the Senior Citizen's building north to the railroad tracks and then on the north side of the tracks near the county shop will be dug up and utilily work done, then repaved. Work may continue through the following week and will result in the road at times being closed to through traffic. Parking in front of the Main Street businesses is not expected to be affected.

As always, please patronize our local businesses as much as possible, even when minor inconveinances occur. I appreciate it and I know the business owners do as well. Questions can be directed to Director of City Services Dan Squires atCity Hall at 208-547-2600.
