Think you’re good to burn just because it’s not closed fire season? Think again.
Even outside of Idaho’s burn permit season (May 10–October 20), local fire restrictions may still apply depending on where you live. Counties and fire districts can have tighter rules—and it’s your responsibility to know them.

âś… Before you light, check with your local fire officials
✅ Make sure you’re following the rules for your area

Don’t risk a preventable wildfire.
Do your part, prevent a wildfire start.

REMINDER: It’s burning season again. Lots of clean up and ditches to be cleaned. Here are a few reminders. Burn permits are required for any and all burning in the county. You must stay with the fire, have enough tools and manpower to keep control of the fire. You are responsible for the fire and the smoke that it creates. If it turns into a nuisance fire, the fire department can order the fire extinguished or extinguish it at their discretion. All burning must be done during daylight hours. Burn permits can be issued for up to 2 weeks. Agricultural burns (crop residue, hay/straw bales, fields) require a DEQ burn permit plus a county burn permit. If you have any questions about agriculture burns, call the EMS office at 208-547-2583. If you feel like you need assistance in putting out the fire please call 911 and we will gladly help.
Burn permits are issued at no cost Monday - Friday 9 am to 4 pm. They can be done over the phone 208-547-2583 or in person at 40 W. Center, Soda Springs.
For burn permits in city limits please contact your city hall.
