After receiving a threat at North Gem School, the schools in the Soda Spring School District were placed on a Hall Check & were later cleared. There is not a threat to the Soda schools at this time. However there will be an increase of police presence at the schools for the remainder of the day.

From now until May 31, Soda Springs Police Department, along with multiple agencies statewide, will be on extra patrol enforcing seatbelt laws. Don’t be at risk of getting a ticket by making sure you & your passengers are properly buckled.

We’re seeing a wave of scam texts pretending to be courts, law enforcement, or the DMV. They may include fake case numbers, threats, and links that aren’t government websites.

Reminder: ITD will never send unexpected texts asking for payment, threatening legal action, or directing you to non-government links. If it doesn’t end in .gov, it’s not from us.

If you get one:
• Don’t click the link
• Don’t share info or pay
• Report it and delete it

Please have patience, use caution, and be attentive while traveling through Soda Springs on Highway 30. Construction is scheduled through the end of October. Be aware of workers in the roadway and increased fines for speeding in work zones.

On February 2, 2026, at approximately 5:36 p.m., the Soda Springs Police Department was dispatched to a report of three juvenile males who had jumped into a moving vehicle near Caribou Medical Center while wearing a mask and then fled the area. Multiple officers responded and located the juveniles at approximately 5:39 p.m.

The juveniles were released to their parents. The incident will be forwarded to the Caribou County Prosecutor’s Office in accordance with juvenile charging procedures for review of any potential criminal charges.

We appreciate the community members who contacted the Soda Springs Police Department, allowing officers to respond quickly and address the situation.

We have been made aware of other incidents that may have involved these juveniles throughout the evening. We would also like to remind the public to report crimes directly to our office, as reports are not taken through social media.
