December 27th, 2025 at 0305 AM Officers were dispatched to the intersection of Molina Hill and Spring street, in reference to a male individual possibly overdosing.
Upon arrival officers quickly discovered a male individual had multiple lacerations, which were bleeding profusely. Officers immediately requested EMS and administered medical treatment. The victim advised officers of the incident in which he had been stabbed multiple times. The victim stated he was smoking Methamphetamines with a male individual, he identified as Leroy Saavedra. The victim stated Leroy attacked him unprovoked with a knife in the front porch of Leroy’s residence. The victim was transported to Socorro General Hospital for life-threatening injuries by EMS and flown out to an ICU in Albuquerque.
Officers arrived at the original incident scene and located large amounts of blood on the front porch, along with water, which appeared to be an attempt to wash away the evidence. Officers located a blood trail which matched the direction of travel for the victim.
At 0441 AM officers received another request for an officer on Spring street, in reference to a stolen vehicle.
Officers arrived and made contact with a female individual, who stated her family member, Leroy Saavedra had came asking for a ride. The female individual denied Leroy’s request and closed the door. The female individual stated shortly after, she discovered her vehicle missing.
Officers quickly entered the vehicle into NCIC as stolen and had dispatch put out a BOLO to surrounding agencies for the vehicle.
At 0608 AM dispatch advised officers of a State Police officer from District 4 (Dona Ana County) requesting to speak to the investigating officer. Socorro Police Department was notified of the vehicle being recovered and Leroy Saavedra being deceased. The NMSP officer advised officers Leroy passed due to a vehicle vs pedestrian collision.
