The Mineral Museum will still be open, but the bookstore will be representin' the NMBGMR at the Rocky Mountain GSA meeting in ABQ during this time.

Have you experienced our newest guest exhibit? In the fall of 2025, mineral collector Don Dallaire curated a fabulous display of worldwide apatites and White Mountain New Hampshire Igneous Province pegmatite minerals. If you haven’t seen this display in person, please stop on by. Big thanks to Don and all of the collectors who have shared their personal collections with museum visitors!

The guest exhibits are some of the most dynamic in the museum, as they are set up each fall. The display is fashioned entirely by the collector, not much different than an artist painting a masterpiece!

We celebrate this Mineral Monday with a new display! The "From the Vault: The Martin Zinn III Collection" is now out on the shelves! Marty has been a generous donor for many, many years and he makes the museum look so gooooooood! Please stop on by to check it out!

Just thought we would share some fun photos of new pieces going into the Dana display this week :) The Dana Classification exhibit is one of the museum's most interesting displays, with minerals arranged according to chemical composition and structure. The classification system was developed by James Dwight Dana in 1848.

We try to update the display as we get new pieces that are the right size (in the thumbnail to toenail realm) and show nice crystal form. The process of putting these beauties on display is repetitious, with a lot of precision knife and hot/spray glue work...but super fun to create the finished product that will be admired by many visitors!
