🇺🇸 25 YEARS LATER — WE WILL NEVER FORGET 🇺🇸
Today, Socorro Fire Department joins communities across our nation in remembering September 11, 2001.
Twenty-five years have passed since our nation was forever changed. Yet the courage and sacrifice witnessed that day remain a lasting reminder of what it means to serve others.
We remember the nearly 3,000 innocent lives taken on September 11th. We remember the 343 firefighters, 23 NYPD officers, 37 Port Authority Police officers, and all of the first responders who made the ultimate sacrifice while answering the call.
They didn’t hesitate.
They didn’t turn away.
They ran toward the danger.
For those of us who wear the fire service badge, the loss of the 343 is felt deeply. They were brothers and sisters in the same profession, men and women who woke up that morning prepared to serve their communities, never knowing they would make the ultimate sacrifice.
25 years later, their legacy continues to live through every firefighter who answers the alarm, every first responder who runs toward danger, and every family who supports the men and women who serve.
Today, we honor their courage.
We remember their sacrifice.
We stand with their families.
And we carry their memory forward.
25 years later, their sacrifice has not been forgotten.
