On June 4th at approximately 14:30 hrs, Grant County Fire District 7 was dispatched to a reported structure fire. Upon arrival, crews found a fast-moving brush fire threatening multiple structures and vehicles.

Firefighters quickly initiated an aggressive fire attack to stop the fire’s progression while additional units were assigned to structure protection. Through coordinated efforts, crews were able to contain the fire and prevent further damage to nearby properties.

Personnel remained on scene for several hours conducting mop-up operations and extinguishing remaining hot spots to ensure the fire was fully secured.

We would like to extend a sincere thank you to our mutual aid partners for their assistance and support during this incident. Their cooperation and dedication played a vital role in the successful outcome of this response.

On May 31st at approximately 14:40hrs, Grant County Fire District 7 was dispatched to a brush fire just off Highway 17 in the Blue Lake area.

The first arriving unit found an approximately 2-acre brush fire. Due to the rugged terrain, the fire quickly spread into areas that were difficult to access, requiring aerial resources to assist with suppression efforts. Through the combined efforts of ground crews and air support, firefighters were able to contain the fire and continued to monitor the area overnight.

We would like to thank Coulee City Fire Department and BLM for their assistance and support during this incident.

As temperatures rise and conditions continue to dry out, fires like this serve as an important reminder of how vulnerable our area is during the hot summer months. We encourage everyone to remain vigilant and take steps to help prevent wildfires.

Stay safe and be fire-wise.

As the county-wide burn ban approaches, we want to remind everyone of the importance of staying compliant throughout the summer season.

Conditions are already extremely dry, and with the winds we continue to experience in our area, the risk for fast-moving fires is high. We ask our community to help us prevent unnecessary fires during what is expected to be another busy and dangerous fire season.

The annual burn ban goes into effect Monday, June 1st.

Please do not burn debris, yard waste, or other materials during the ban. If a fire starts and gets out of control, you may be held responsible both financially and criminally.

It’s simply not worth the risk.

Thank you for helping keep Soap Lake and our surrounding communities safe this summer.

Last week, our cadets had the opportunity to attend the 2026 Spring Youth Forum in Centralia. This event gave them the chance to collaborate with other youth-led prevention programs and organizations from across the area. Through these conversations and activities, they were able to connect with peers their age, share ideas, and explore different approaches to prevention efforts within their communities.

Thank you to the Soap Lake Prevention Coalition for providing our cadets with a fun and engaging weekend.
