From Cindy’s best friend Edee Fuller
Cindy Brinkmeyer-Wright, 1959-2026
It is with great sadness that I share the passing of my dearest friend and dedicated Snow Lake Shores Alderwoman, Cindy Brinkmeyer. Cindy died at her home on May 30, 2026. She was born January 1959 in Binghamton, New York. Cindy found a place she adored at Snow Lake Shores, MS, along with Lucky, her Black Lab, and Diamond, her beloved cat, in 2016.
Cindy graduated from college and enjoyed a decades-long career of travel and work within the airline industry. Cindy performed many different roles during her tenure with, among others, Northwest Airlines and Delta Airlines where notably, she was a Ramp Tower Agent–call sign CINDERS–directing planes from the taxiway into their assigned gates from the ramp tower. Her cool professionalism preceded her reputation for getting the job done and she was once recruited to relocate after retiring to work the tower at Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport, despite not speaking French.
It may come as no surprise to all who knew Cindy, that she poured herself into both her career and many meaningful endeavors to support non-profit organizations promoting people and animals in need–from Ronald McDonald House nationwide, to St. Jude in Memphis, and locally, the Marshall County Humane Society, Save1Pet in Olive Branch, and many more. In the early 2000s, Cindy helped to create Labs4Rescue, a non-profit dedicated to providing a new life for Labrador Retrievers and Labrador Mixes which successfully achieves this mission to this day, having helped over 15,000 dogs in a volunteer and adoption network from the South to the North.
Cindy retired from Delta Airlines in 2021 to take up full-time residence at her home on the Lake, and from that time, she put in maximum effort to preserve and protect the unique beauty of Snow Lake Shores. Cindy first volunteered her time and talent to maintain the signage, the landscape and the flowers at both community entrances, our town offices and the community center. Initially, she also joined the Snow Lake Volunteer Fire Department as support for our fire house and the first responders, then became one herself, showing up for every possible call in the district 24/7, even learning to drive the heavy equipment when called upon, participating in a wide variety of fire safety programs and community outreach, and was elected a Fire District Commissioner.
Cindy took her dedication and expertise as a fire department volunteer a step further, leaving her stamp on our greater community, by also becoming a successful grant writer. Cindy’s work netted tens of thousands of dollars to secure important life-saving, fire fighting and safety equipment that goes out on every call to the district each time the Snow Lake Fire Department responds.
In her free time, Cindy baked some of the best apple pies and cooked even more for her fellow volunteer fire fighters and the community…bringing in a freezer to store more and feed more on-site. Many can attest to how Cindy showed up to serve everyone: first responders, neighbors, and the public during times the fire house opened for emergency shelter, power outages, and special events. The firehouse also offers the community a workout room which Cindy helped to expand through donations.
With her quiet chuckle, Cindy was a tour de force. Last Fall, Cindy put her name on the ballot and was elected to a leadership role as a Snow Lake Alderwoman, attending regular town meetings and working to better her community on another dimension was her goal. Among her final acts were to help save the tradition of the Snow Lake 4th of July Fireworks Spectacular for neighbors far and wide, she helped others ready a house for sale even planting flowers, and she took time to deliver a bone to Hudu the dog.
Cindy was beyond remarkable and courageous...and she will be deeply missed by me, my family, and all who knew and loved her. The incredible investment of her time, deep devotion and endless energy will live on to help all those in our community and far beyond.
Please honor Cindy’s good works simply–pay it forward to help another person or animal in need, don’t stop, and encourage others to do the same.
Memorials in Cindy’s name can also be made in support of the organizations closest to her: labs4rescue.com, marshallcountyhumanesociety.org, and the Snow Lake Volunteer Fire Department.
A celebration of Cindy’s life is being planned with details to follow.
