Meet Jodi Kamins, a proud volunteer at Glacier Peak High School!

“Jodi’s leadership and generosity have made a meaningful difference in the Glacier Peak community this year. From helping guide our Parent Organization to coordinating a donation drive for families impacted by the historic flooding, her contributions exemplify the spirit of service we value so highly. We are incredibly grateful for Jodi and all of our dedicated GP volunteers.”- Glacier Peak High School

• What is your role/title at the school you volunteer with? I’m the PTO President at Glacier Peak High School.

• How long have you been volunteering in Snohomish School District schools and what got you started with volunteering? I've been volunteering for almost 16 years. My daughter had a hard time when she was little (5 yrs). I reached out to the elementary school to see if I could be of help in the classroom and they did. I was able to I was able to be in her classroom and help the teacher. This puts my daughter ease. She still asks me if I will be helping at her school.

• Do you have any students/children in the district? I do, Freshman this year.

• What kinds of activities or responsibilities do you take on during your time volunteering in school/ What does your time volunteering in the school typically look like? This is my first year with GP. I started as a secretary taking notes for the meetings, helping with the start of the school year with our booth passing out flyers and meeting new families. From there I became president during the flooding in Snohomish. I organized a clothing drive for families in need; we filled a storage unit and had to move to a church because we collected so much in 3 hours. I ran the drive for families to come collect clothes, shoes, toiletries and more. This drive lasted 2 months and we had so many volunteers help that made it all possible. My current duties are running the monthly meeting, preparing the agenda, 1 hour a month, planning upcoming fundraisers, helping with teacher appreciation lunch as well as conference week lunch for the teachers. This year we did a snack cart for the teacher to show our appreciation. I check the PO BOX, review scholarship applicants, do Costco runs and deliveries, and run the social media or all events and updates. I generally spend about 16 hours a month with our team.

• What’s your favorite thing about volunteering in the school? I love getting to interact with the staff and students, that has been my favorite so far.

Thank you, Jodi, for all that you do!
