Burn Ban Lifted

🔥 Burn Ban Lifted for Jackson County 🔥

During their regular meeting on May 12, 2026, the Jackson County Board of County Commissioners voted to rescind the countywide burn ban that was previously put in place due to dry conditions and elevated wildfire risk.

Following recent rainfall and improved conditions, officials determined it was safe to lift the restrictions based on guidance from the Florida Forest Service and Jackson County Fire Rescue.

While outdoor burning activities may now resume, residents are reminded that safe and lawful burning practices remain extremely important. Before conducting any outdoor burning, property owners should ensure they are following Florida Forest Service guidelines, monitoring weather and wind conditions, keeping burns attended at all times, and taking appropriate precautions to prevent wildfires.

Outdoor burning activities must still comply with Florida Forest Service regulations and any applicable local or state requirements.

📞 For questions or information on outdoor burning, please contact the Florida Forest Service Office in Bonifay at 850-373-1801.

Thank you to the community for your cooperation during the burn ban period and for helping protect Jackson County during heightened wildfire conditions.
