After five unforgettable years, I’m wrapping up my final season as Head Coach at Smithsburg with a lot of mixed emotions. What a ride it has been.

I’m incredibly proud of everything we were able to accomplish together, highlighted by back-to-back region championships in 2025 and 2026. Those moments are something I’ll carry with me forever, but what I’ll remember most are the relationships, memories, and people who made this experience so special.

I want to thank my current assistant coaches — Bobby Keller, Mark Allen, Jordan Tapley, Zach Frazier, KT Sadler, and Gabe Boumel — for the countless hours, loyalty, and dedication they gave to our program and players.

A thank you as well to former assistants Kevin Crawford, Matt Bowman, JT Root, and Tim Kolb for helping build the foundation of what our program became.

Thank you to our incredible team mom, Jen Sarber, and our scorekeeper, Eric Darr, for everything you did behind the scenes to support our team.

Thank you to our mental coach, Mr. Rupert, for helping our players grow not only as athletes, but as young men.

I also want to thank Joey Miller for allowing us access to the indoor facility at Barrel Nation. Your support meant a great deal to our program.

To my girlfriend, Kate Johnson — thank you for your constant support throughout this journey. One of the greatest blessings coaching at Smithsburg brought into my life was meeting Katie through mutual friends along the way.

Thank you to all of the players and parents who trusted me over these last five years. Coaching your sons has been an honor, and I’ll always cherish the memories we created together.

Thank you to our administrators, current AD Donna Almany, and former AD Ryan Myers, who hired me back in October of 2021 and gave me this incredible opportunity.

And finally, thank you to the Smithsburg community and the town itself for embracing me and supporting our program from day one.

Everyone involved with Smithsburg will be truly missed. This place, these people, and these memories will always hold a special place in my heart.

Coach Patrick Moore
