Our Smithsburg Parks News and Events for Lions Community Park and Veterans Park in Smithsburg, MD! Both offer pavilions for entertaining, playgrounds, and ball courts/fields.

The Town of Smithsburg, MD is lucky enough to boast TWO wonderful parks open to the public to enjoy - Lions Community Park and Veterans Park. Veterans Park, located on West Water Street, also features a 1 mile walking trail, exercise stations, and covered picnic areas along the trail. They are both wonderful, and we invite you to come enjoy them! If you live in town and/or enjoy our parks, this is

a wonderful place to stay up to date on events, news, and future projects concerning the two parks. "Like Us" and stay in the loop!

Last weekend, our community held a fantastic tree-planting event behind the Smithsburg Library, where we planted 7 large Thorneless Honey Locust trees to create a serene, dappled-shade area perfect for reading, relaxing, and picnicking. A heartfelt thank you to all who participated, especially our dedicated Parks Commission members, Council members -Cathie McCormick and David Dan, Boy Scout Troop 14, and Antietam-Conococheague Watershed Alliance - ACWA. Your efforts, supported by a generous grant from the Department of Natural Resources, will enhance our town’s beauty and provide a tranquil space for everyone to enjoy!

This past weekend, our community came together for a wonderful tree planting event at Veterans Park, where 24 new trees were added to the Evergreen Trail areaβ€”thanks to a generous grant from the Department of Natural Resources! A huge thank you to everyone who came out to help, especially our dedicated Parks Commission members, Boy Scout Troop 14 BSA Troop 14, Cub Scout Pack 14, the St. James School Outdoor Club, and Councilman Jon Snyder. Your hard work and teamwork will benefit Smithsburg for generations, creating a greener, more beautiful space for all to enjoy!

Yesterday, we gathered as a community to celebrate Veterans Day, honoring the courage, sacrifice, and dedication of our veterans. It was a powerful reminder of the commitment these men and women made to protect our freedom.

The Smithsburg Parks Commission is thrilled to announce that the ribbon cutting event for our new inclusive playground at Veterans Park was a resounding success! It was a great moment as we officially opened the playground designed for children of all abilities to play, learn, and grow together.

We extend our appreciation to Commissioner Barr, Commissioner Harvey, Commissioner Cline, Councilman Snyder, Councilman Gonzalez, and Councilman Dan for coming. To everyone who made this dream a reality, thank you for your dedication and support.

As we look ahead, we're excited for the countless memories and friendships that will be made right here at this playground.

We're thrilled to announce the grand opening of our brand new inclusive playground at Veterans Park! This playground is designed to be a place where every child, regardless of ability, can play and thrive together.

New playground area coming soon! Paid for by state and county grants.

The Town of Smithsburg would like to advise residents that starting today, improvements are being made to some of the playground equipment (swings) near the second (smaller) pavilion in Veterans Park. We apologize for any inconvenience, but these improvements are a part of the "NEW ALL-INCLUSIVE" playground equipment that will enhance our park.
