Most people think of libraries as places to check out books, but they provide so much more. Libraries offer internet access, research resources, educational programs, community events, technology assistance, children's activities, job search support, and a quiet, safe place to learn and grow.

I've always believed that libraries are one of the most important tools we have for leveling the playing field. Regardless of income, every child and every adult should have access to knowledge, technology, and opportunities to improve their lives.

That's why I would like to see our library become more accessible to working families. Right now, the library is open:

• Monday: 9:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.
• Tuesday: 9:00 a.m. - 5:30 p.m.
• Wednesday-Friday: 9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.
• Saturday-Sunday: Closed

Unfortunately, many taxpayers aren't able to use what their money is already paying for. For many working parents and families, those hours make it difficult to take advantage of everything the library has to offer.

I would support extending Tuesday evening hours until at least 6:30 p.m. and opening at least a half day on Saturdays. Small changes like these could make a big difference for families who work during the week but still want access to the valuable resources their tax dollars help support, at very minimal cost to taxpayers.

A strong library is an investment in education, opportunity, and our future. I believe we should make it easier for people to use it.

Thomas Paine once wrote, "What we obtain too cheap, we esteem too lightly."

He wrote those words to rally a freezing, exhausted army that was losing. He understood something we are in danger of forgetting: that the sweetness of freedom is inseparable from the weight of what it cost.

It is easy, for those of us who have never worn a uniform, to let that phrase pass through us like air. But somewhere tonight, a mother rereads the last letter from her child. A child has grown up knowing their parent only through photographs. A town has a name on a monument that used to belong to a neighbor.

The freedoms that make self-government possible, that let us gather, dissent, vote, and begin again, were purchased at a price that can never be repaid.

Today, on Memorial Day, may we truly pause. May we feel the weight of that phrase, and the weight of what freedom costs, not as a sentiment, but as a debt we carry forward. As a promise we commit to uphold.

Now that the primary is behind us, I’m looking forward to the months ahead and continuing to meet with people across Livingston County, hear your concerns, and talk about the future we want for our community.

I’m grateful for every conversation, every word of encouragement, every prayer, and every person who has taken the time to listen and share their thoughts with me.

We still have a lot of work to do between now and November, and I’m excited for what’s ahead.

Let’s do this!!

Taxation without representation? Never! Instead of throwing tea into the Boston Harbor, simply let me know what you think in this short, four-question survey!

All perspectives are welcome and the survey is completely anonymous!

Let's work together!

I want to hear from you! This short survey is one way I can better understand your perspective and your priorities. -- Teris

As early voting begins, I want to remind everyone that I will not be on the ballot in the primary! You can still vote for me this fall, regardless of how you voted in the primary!

My commitment: true transparency.

Taxpayer dollars and darkness do not mix.

The Kentucky Supreme Court recently ruled that records held on privately-owned devices and accounts are not subject to the Kentucky Open Records Act. This swings the door wide open for back door deals and secret corruption. Officials may now start using their private devices to keep things secret from you, the taxpayer.

I can’t overstate how dangerous this is.

I don’t necessarily blame the Supreme Court, they are just interpreting the law as they believe the General Assembly intended. However, it’s a scary thing nonetheless and I’m proud of our own Justice Shea Nickell for his dissent.

I pledge to communicate about official county business only on county-owned devices and accounts!

If you also want an open and honest government, then you as the voter need to call on all elected officials and candidates to pledge the same.

Happy Mother’s Day to all the superhero moms out there! Especially to the women in my life who are my support system and who have molded me into the woman that I am today. 💕💐

This is a video that I filmed and posted on my personal page about a year ago that really had nothing to do with my campaign. But I think it’s important to know how your elected officials consider and analyze policy that will directly affect you!

A degree in political science, a law degree, and common sense aren’t just credentials. They’re the foundation I rely on to evaluate, craft, and carry out public policy. That’s the combination I use to make public policy practical, fair, and effective.

After much prayer and deep contemplation, I am running for Livingston County Judge Executive this year.

I’m not running to be someone important. I’m running because Livingston County is important, and I want a county government that is accessible, steady, and worthy of your trust.

I made this decision at the prompting of many and because I love this county and I believe our best days are still ahead.

I have much more to say, but for now, just know that I am listening to your concerns across the county. I am grateful for your support, your ideas, and your prayers as we take this step together.
