🚌 SHS Families: Bus Route Information

Only 8 days until the first day of school! IWCS Transportation is working to finalize preliminary bus routes for the 2026–2027 school year.

For student safety, routes are not posted publicly online. Families may receive route information through communication from the school and during Open House. Routes and times may continue to change as enrollment and stops are updated.

Important reminders:

⏰ Students should arrive at the bus stop 10 minutes before the scheduled time.

👨‍👩‍👧 Students in Grade 3 or younger must have a parent or guardian present at afternoon drop-off unless a self-release waiver has been completed with the school.

📱 The MyView bus tracker will be available beginning on the first day of school.

🐾 Celebrating Student Leadership at SHS!

Congratulations to Hannah Hamrick on being selected as the new Smithfield High School Student Liaison to the Isle of Wight County School Board!

Hannah will serve during her junior and senior years, representing the voices and perspectives of her fellow students at School Board meetings. Her leadership, academic achievement and commitment to serving others make her an outstanding representative of the Packer community.

We are proud to have Hannah helping ensure that SHS students have a voice in important division conversations!

📣 SHS Reminder for Tuesday, September 1

💻 LAPTOP DISTRIBUTION
Eligible transfer students and returning students who turned in their laptops to SHS after June 12 may pick them up in the SHS library from 11:00 a.m.–3:00 p.m.

A parent or guardian must complete and sign the Device Usage and Distribution Agreement before a school-issued laptop can be provided. Outstanding library or technology charges must also be cleared.

🔧 Building Opportunities at Smithfield High School

Isle of Wight County Schools has been awarded a $1.96 million grant to expand and modernize the welding lab at Smithfield High School!

This investment will:

• Double the lab’s current training capacity
• Serve up to 120 students annually
• Add industry-standard welding equipment and training simulators
• Improve ventilation, gas-delivery, and fire-suppression systems
• Support Welding Levels 1–3 and the ISLE Maritime Trades Academy
• Require no local funding match

The expanded program will help prepare students for careers in shipbuilding, advanced manufacturing, and naval defense—important industries throughout Hampton Roads.

This is a tremendous investment in SHS students, workforce development, and the future of Isle of Wight County.

Smithfield High School's Graduation Ceremony will be held on Friday, June 12, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at Liberty Live Church, 1021 Big Bethal Rd. Hampton, VA 23666

Doors will open at 1:00 p.m. Guests are encouraged to arrive early to allow sufficient time for parking and seating. The ceremony will begin promptly at 2:00 p.m. No entry will be allowed after 2:00 pm.

Please enter Doors A, B, C, or D with your ticket in hand.

Items Not Permitted Inside the Graduation Ceremony:
❌ Balloons
❌ Air horns or noisemakers
❌ No signs, banners, or posters
❌ Umbrellas
❌ Weapons of any kind
❌ To***co products, vapes, or e-cigarettes
❌ Outside food or beverages
❌ Confetti, glitter, or similar celebratory items

To ensure all guests can enjoy the ceremony and have an unobstructed view of the graduates, please adhere to these guidelines.

Any available extra tickets will be distributed at that time on a first-come, first-served basis. Availability is limited, and additional tickets are not guaranteed.
