Passport book, Passport card, or both?
Here are the main differences to help you decide what’s best for you:

Passport book: Required for international AIR travel.

Passport card: Can be used for LAND and SEA travel from Canada, Mexico, Bermuda, and parts of the Caribbean.

Both can be used to meet the Real ID requirement for domestic air travel. A passport card can be a convenient, wallet-sized form of government ID.

We just wanted to remind our community there are third party websites that are not the official US Passport government website. Often times these websites are fraudulent and charge additional fees that are unwarranted.

The Johnston County Register of Deeds is an acceptance facility and we are happy to schedule your appointment in our office and the fees incurred are simply for passport and our processing fee. Please visit TRAVEL.STATE.GOV for more information, forms and locations of acceptance facilities.
