Johnston County is pleased to announce our December to Remember Free Pet Adoption Event. For the month of December we are waiving all adoption costs for any adoption animal. That’s right, 100% free with a money back guarantee. All we ask is that you adopt responsibly and remember that owning an animal is a big responsibility for years to come. We suggest that if they are going to be a present to a loved one that you bring them with you so they can make sure it is a good fit for them. Also, make sure those of you renting check with who you rent from to make sure they allow for pets. These couple of simple steps will help ensure that the new pet will be the perfect gift. Pick one of our adoption animals from our website and call 919-934-8474 to make an appointment to come and do a meet and greet. No holds.

2025 rabies clinic is in the books! It was a personal record number of shots given in the 9 years that I have been here. We vaccinated 725 animals. That is an average of 145 animals an hour. We accomplished this with just a staff of 10 people that directed traffic, passed out paperwork to be filled out, made rabies certificates, collected money, and gave vaccines. We did have a couple issues but that is to be expected with this volume of animals. We are already toying with some ways to improve next year’s clinic. All-in-all, the staff did an amazing job and turnout was way higher than expected.

Remember, if you missed the clinic, we give rabies shots at the shelter all year long by appointment for the same price as the clinic.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION- One major issue with the clinic was not caught until after the clinic was over. This issue DOES NOT affect anyone who preregistered. Those customers that had to fill out paperwork at the clinic NEED to read this carefully. The company we used to make the certificates put the wrong dates and vaccine information on the forms and we did not catch it until it was too late. Over the next couple of days, we will make new certificates with the correct information on them and mail them out to everyone affected. THE RABIE TAGS ARE STILL VALID AND YOU NEED TO KEEP THEM. The new certificates will reflect that tag number. If you need to contact us for an address change or if you have a P.O. box, please email me directly at [email protected] . Thank you for coming out and taking rabies as seriously as it is.
