After hearing from farmers today about the struggles they’ve faced as well as the RI farms that have closed due to bad government, it is imperative that we elect individuals who support them.

In attendance were several farm owners including our very own John Emin, owner of Seven Cedars Farm and Anne Marie Bouthilette, owner of Blackbird Farm.

Thanks to Joe Hosey, candidate for State Representative District 44, for inviting us to his meet and greet in support of local family farmers.

Let’s all try to support our local farms, where possible. 👩‍🌾

It has been a great two weeks meeting and talking with many of my constituents and friends at the town hall. Thank you for your support. 🇺🇸🗳️

The extra task of preparing for the primary has put me behind on installing yard signs, etc. so, kindly excuse the delay as I will be getting to that soon.

Wishing everyone and their families an enjoyable, safe Labor Day weekend.

Take care and God bless. 🇺🇸

Re: New Interactive Planning Map

I wanted to make you all aware of a new Active Planning Applications Map that is now embedded on the Planning & Economic Development Department’s website.

The map provides a public-facing overview of planning applications currently under review by the Town, including the project location, application number, current review stage, and a direct link to the corresponding public application record and documents in OpenGov.

The map is connected to our permitting system and is scheduled to update automatically each night as applications move through the review process.

My intent is to make it easier for residents, applicants, and officials to see where active projects are located and access the underlying application information without having to navigate through the permitting portal separately.

This is intended as an informational tool; the official application record maintained by the Town remains controlling.

See & explore the map on the Meeting & Application Materials tab ( https://www.smithfieldri.gov/departments/planning-economic-development/planning-board-meeting-materials/upcoming-meetings-documents ) of the Planning & Economic Development Departments page.

Unfortunately, due to lack of proper equipment and connection capabilities at the Senior Center, this evening’s Town Council meeting will NOT be live-streamed.

I was advised that it will be videotaped and posted to the Town’s YouTube channel tomorrow morning under the “Videos” tab.

I am hoping that the Town can address this to avoid future public inconveniences in the future.

Friendly reminder that this is week 2 of early voting for the primary election. 9 days left until primary election day. 6 days left to make your vote count. Contrary to what skeptics will say, your vote MATTERS on the local level! We've accomplished a great deal and we WILL accomplish a great deal more with our good government team. I can assure you that.

If you want a Code of Ethics passed next term, please vote to get our slate of five candidates through to the general election.

Thank you to everyone who has come out so far. It has been great to see old and new friends.

New data center update:

As I continue to monitor the Hanton City appeal, I have spoken to the legal team for the Town. The Board of Appeals matter for Wednesday September 2, 2026 will be continued. There will not be any reason to appear that night. As of now, the matter will be re-scheduled for October 7, 2026. The continuance does not affect any party’s rights in this appeal or prejudice the Town.

We had a excellent mid-day refueling (lunch) at Sonias Deli in Apple Valley Plaza!
Five of us ordered the “eggplant special” and it was delicious! Highly recommended.

Hope everyone has a great rest of their Saturday.
