A few of the WS1EMA team members setting up at the Smithfield Sportsman's Club today. The team used a long wire antenna, 2 Buddipole antennas and 3 HF radios to make contacts across the US. The long wire was set up in the trees and the buddipoles were fixed to two 24 foot tripod towers.

It's in Smithfield and we spent today at Revive The Roots 5th Rootstock Festival and at the Smithfield Sportsman's Club's 92nd Field Day. Great job to our CERT and our WS1EMA amateur radio operators for showing the public how to be ready for an emergency and how ham radio plays a key role during a disaster.

It's National Preparedness Month and we are setting up kiosks at some of our most favorite events here in the Apple Valley! Tonight, we were at Friday Night Lights at Smithfield High School and cheered on the Sentinels as they won Game 1 over Scituate. Also, congratulations to Barbara! She won tonight's Emergency Preparedness gift basket in our free raffle.

Our team of WS1EMA amateur radio operators are out on the Sour Apple 5K and 1/2 Marathon course today! We also are operating the Event Alert System and monitoring the feel like temperature with our wet bulb globe thermometers. A Heat Advisory is in effect today and high temps and humidity values can lead to heat related illnesses. Stay hydrated and cool!
