Starting June 6th it becomes a primary offense that you can be stopped and cited for.

We have had a lot of calls asking about the parade!!! Here is the information!!! Also if it’s a rain out we will have a program at the High School auditorium!

Please come out and join us.

A note from the American Legion: any veteran in attendance at the parade is welcome to join in. Formation is on Willow St infront of Lakeview.

ADDED: We have no reason to believe the community is in any danger. This is an active missing person case from the Eastern Side of Pennsylvania that our Lewis Run State Police are assisting with.

Attention: West Valley Road from Galico to the Boro line will be closed every day this week starting Monday 5/18 between 8:00 AM to 3:30 PM in order for the maintenance crew to replace cross pipes.

Attention 🌺Smethport Borough Adopt A Planter People!!🌺

We think the weather is going to finally start cooperating and the planters will be ready for flowers this weekend!!

If you had a planter last year,and want to do it again this year , you can go ahead and plant your flowers. If you had a planter last year and do not want to do it again this year please call the borough office at 814-887-5915 so we can take you off the list.

We would really like to see them all planted with flowers 🌸by Memorial Day!! 🇺🇸Thank you all for helping to make our town prettier for the summer.

Tonight 5/12/26 starting at 6pm the Smethport Fire Department Inc. will be conducting the annual street cleaning of the business district ( courthouse - Colonial). Please refrain from parking on Main St during this time!!

So everyone knows yard sales are coming June 19-21 2026!!!

Everyone also knows community clean up (junk days) will be June 22-24, 2026!!!

But we have some news that we bet you didn’t know!!! This year the Hamlin Memorial Library is offering up the yard!!! For years we’ve had people ask if they could come set up in town for the yard sales even tho they don’t live in town! This year the library is going to make that dream come true!!! They are offering up 12’x12’ spaces for $10!!!

As usual if you are planning a yard sale please let the Borough office know and we will get some maps ready so you can plan the weekend!!!

At tonight’s Borough Council Meeting they accepted the bid for spring clean up!!!! Clean up will take place following yard sale weekend June 19-21. Piles will be picked up beginning June 22-24th!!!

They also voted to keep the fee the same as years past, $50 per household.

On May 1, 2026 in coordination with McKean County Dept of Emergency Services, Smethport Area School District, and others we held our “Prom Promise” event.

The goal of Prom Promise is to show the student body in real time what happens during a DUI accident. Then we show some of the after effects to include criminal charges, the court setting, and the after effect of everyone involved.

The second goal is to show students that careers in EMS, Fire, and law enforcement are ever changing and are options for everyone who wants to take that path.

Without the support of District administration, this event never takes place. In addition to that we also would like to thank:
