Buckaroo Tennis Team splits with PC Trojans

PARKERS CHAPEL — Parkers Chapel hosted Smackover in 3A tennis action on Tuesday. The Lady Bucks won the girls 5-3 and the Trojans took the boys 5-4.
In girls singles, PC’s Lexie Morgan beat Hannah Sexton 6-4; Smackover’s Marley Smith downed Nivedha Krishnan 6-1; PC’s Emma Claire Owens defeated Izabela Smith 6-4 and Smackover’s Olivia Burdue topped Elizabeth Cauley 4-1.
In girls doubles, Smackover’s Cameron Morris and Ava Walker topped Morgan and Kylie Lawson 6-2; Marley Smith and Izabela Smith beat Owens and Audrey Robertson 6-1; PC’s Cauley and Krishnan beat Paislie Graham and Nataleh Goodwin 6-3 and Smackover’s Burdue and Taylor Scott stopped Ragen McElroy and Sarah Hilburn 4-0.
In boys’ singles, Smackover’s Kade Crawford defeated Jackson Nations 6-0; Joseph Stevens beat Carter Braswell 6-3; PC’s Jack Hively topped Jeremy Critton 5-4 and Critton upended Cooper Morgan 4-1.
In boys’ doubles, PC’s Brayden Latino and Ayden Rainwater knocked off Jasper Galusha and Drake Rester 6-0; Jack Battisto and Parker Thomas beat Dalton Renfroe and Chris Millan 6-1; Smackover’s Renfroe and Millan downed Remi Bailey and Braden Marable 4-1; PC’s Rainwater and Latino defeated Crawford and Stevens 6-0 and Battisto and Thomas upended Galusha and Rester 6-0.

Smackover Buckaroo Golf adds another one to the win column! 👏👏👏👏👏

SMACKOVER - Smackover’s boys and girls won tri-matches Monday at Pine Hills against Parkers Chapel and Harmony Grove.
“Proud of our teams today. The heat was still a factor, but we pushed through,” said Smackover coach Hutch Preston. “The pins were in some very challenging locations, and I thought we navigated that very well. Dry course conditions made for some crazy bounces, but we did well.”
The Bucks shot 117 to top the Trojans (133) and Hornets (150).
Dax Preston 39, Isaiah Martin 39 and Jesse Saulsbury 39 all tied for medalist honors. Mason Parker 43, Drake McGaugh 44 and Lincoln Nutt 45 all scored for Smackover.
Brayden Eudy scored 43 to lead PC followed by JD Carelock, Logan Martin (45) and Micah Cates (47).
Harmony Grove’s Gannon Paull shot 45.
On the girls’ side, Smackover shot 142 to beat Parkers Chapel 151 and Harmony Grove 171.
Kannyn Preston led the Lady Bucks with 42, followed by Emerson Neal 49, Kat Wolfe 51, and Jewel Arnold 54.
Hannah Sexton carded a 53.
The Lady Trojans were led by Bentlee Bates 48, Jade Stewart 51, Brilee Carelock 52 and Kambrey Stegall 57.
“I’m proud and thankful for the membership and leadership at Pine Hills Country Club in Smackover. Mr. Robert Parks and staff had that course in great shape today and we’re so thankful they let us be a part of their community,” said Coach Preston.
“For the boys, I couldn’t be more impressed with their effort. For Dax, Isaiah, and Jesse I’ll take a three-way tie with those scores every day. It just shows how much they’ve worked this year and how they keep pushing and fighting their way through. The girls played great today as well. Kannyn played great and hit a lot of greens. Kat and Emerson fought through hard. Senior Hannah Sexton played as an individual today and shot a career best 53.
“As a team we struggled around the green, but we pushed through. We see Jessieville on Thursday and we’re ready for that match. Conference tournaments are coming up in a few weeks and I feel like we’re on the way to being ready to put some good rounds together.”

This Buckaroo Volleyball team is on 🔥🔥🔥

Last week Smackover lost in volleyball to Genoa Central in three sets at the Hooks Invitational. Tuesday, the Lady Bucks beat the Lady Dragons in five.
Smackover prevailed 25-14, 19-25, 25-17, 15-25, 15-4 to up its record to 5-5 on the season.
The Lady Bucks won the junior high match 25-18, 25-20. The teams split the seventh grade match 25-13, 20-25.
Lunden Clark was 5/7 from the service line with 1 ace, 20 assists, 4 kills, 2 solo blocks, 1 assisted block, and 11 digs. Emily Langley was 22/23 from the service line with 3 aces, 1 kill, and 9 digs. Abigail Burdue was 8/12 from the service line with 3 aces, 3 kills, 1 solo block, 1 assisted block, and 6 digs. Cameron Morris went 20/20 from the service line with 3 aces, 1 assist, 5 kills, and 16 digs. Lydia Tipton had 7 kills and 3 digs. Saylor Greer was 12/16 from the service line with 2 aces, 6 kills, and 7 digs. Raylee Kricher had 8 digs. Allie Smith was 16/18 from the service line with 6 aces and 11 digs.

Smackover upended El Dorado 3-0 in volleyball action Monday in Norphlet. The Lady Bucks won three close games 27-25, 25-23, 25-22.
They improved to 4-5 on the season while the Lady Wildcats fell to 2-2.
“We started with high energy, but a difficult rotation in serve receive and a few costly errors let the momentum slip away,” said El Dorado coach Amber Reynolds.
“To win games like this, we have to do a better job executing defensively, staying aggressive on offense, and making our serves. We had far too many missed serves tonight to put ourselves in a position to win.
Sophomore Lunden Clark had 3 aces, 18 assists, 4 kills, 1 block, and 11 digs to lead the Lady Bucks. Emily Langley had 4 aces, 4 kills, and 5 digs. Abi Burdue had 3 aces, 9 kills, 1 block, and 3 digs. Cameron Morris had 3 aces, 3 kills, and 16 digs. Lydia Tipton had 3 kills and 4 digs. Saylor Greer had 3 aces, 3 kills, 1 block, and 6 digs. Raylee Kricher had 8 digs. Allie Smith had 2 aces and 6 digs.
“Last night was a great team win for us. We stayed composed in three really tight sets and did a good job of finding ways to finish when the score was close,” said Smackover coach Nicki Skelton. “Lunden Clark did a great job of running our offense and also being a key defensive contributor. She was able to spread the offense out because our passing was really good as well. Abi Burdue gave us a strong offensive presence and Cameron Morris was huge defensively. We also got key offensive and defensive contributions from everyone on the floor, and that balance was important.
“We played together, stayed aggressive and didn’t panic when the sets got tight. We played a cleaner match. We weren’t perfect, but we did a much better job of controlling the things we could control, limiting our unforced errors, and staying on course and playing our game.”
Smackover already has three more victories than last season.
“Hats off to Smackover - they played well and fought hard. Coach Skelton is building a strong program over there,” said Reynolds. “We’re taking the lessons learned from tonight, tightening up our ex*****on and focusing all our attention forward as we open conference play (Tuesday).”
Smackover won the 7th grade 25-20, 25-11, Jr. B 14-25, 25-19, 15-13. El Dorado won the Jr. A match 14-25, 25-22, 14-16.
