Samantha Alvarenga, our Rotary’s Assistant District Governor spoke about her very interesting background in education and Deirdre Murphy, Town of Tuxedo Councilperson, discussed the redevelopment plans for Tuxedo. Friday, December 12th, we had our annual holiday party at Characters Restaurant. The Suffern High School Select Choir, once again, beautifully entertained us with their holiday songs, and we made our annual donation to support the Select Choir. At our Rotary meeting, last Friday, we had the privilege of having guests from India, fellow rotarian, Ashok Puri and his wife. He shared interesting stories about projects that his club have been working on.  We also had another guest speaker, Adam O’Gorman, from Habitat for Humanity, to whom we presented a donation from our Rotary club.

Our Rotary district 7210 honored World Polio Day, at Lynch’s on the green, in Thiells. Speakers included Carole Tjoa, District Polio Plus Chair, Rockland County executive, Ed day, Matt Konecni, Assistant District Governor, Beau O’Loendorf, District Governor, and Gary Mower on guitar. We heard several touching and heroic stories of polio survivors. This is an important disease to keep under control and continue to try to eradicate.

Last Wednesday Ramapo Valley Rotary had its officers installation dinner. Installed by Mike D’Avanzo were Beth DiStefano as president, Jeff Frega continues as Treasurer and Eve Mancuso, not in attendance, remains as Secretary. Congrats and thanks to all!
