Please join us in praying for President Cooper to make a full recovery 🙏🙏
I want to share a personal health update with our community.
After undertaking a stress test several weeks ago, I scheduled an angiogram to remove a detected blockage of a major artery of my heart. That procedure was performed last Tuesday, and a stent was successfully placed.
I had planned to spend last week recovering at home before returning to work today. Unfortunately, I experienced an unexpected setback when I suffered a mild stroke, resulting in some numbness in my left hand and arm that I continue to experience.
After thorough testing and an overnight hospital stay, I was discharged Friday evening and have been home resting and recovering. I am incredibly thankful for the medical professionals who cared for me, and especially for Catherine, whose encouragement convinced me to undergo the initial stress test. I am counting my blessings and I am very grateful for her!
At my doctors' direction, my schedule will be noticeably lighter over the next few weeks. My time in the office, meetings and official events will be limited as I focus on getting healthy and making a full recovery.
I also want our residents to know that the work of St. Tammany Parish Government continues. I have complete confidence in my leadership team, the Parish Council and our employees at Koop Drive, who remain focused every day on providing our citizens with the highest level of service and results.
I appreciate your prayers, encouragement and understanding as I take this time to recover. I look forward to getting back to my normal pace soon.
There is still much work to do in the next 15+ months of this administration and together we will FINISH STRONG!
