Such a great way to start this beautiful Sunday morning!🥰

Cooking breakfast for kiddos at Camp Bearable presented by Hospice House.

For those that don't know what Camp Bearable is:

Giving Kids a safe place to talk about their feelings

Camp Bearable began after Hurricane Katrina. It is a grief camp for kids ages 7-12 that had lost a loved one and need help coping with their grief. To find out more or find out how you can donate. The link is posted below. Another amazing resource for our community.

If you would like to start some of your days like this, PM us! We are always looking for new members to join our Kiwanis family.

Did you know that your kids school may have a Kiwanis club? Kiwanis is not just for adults to help kids but for kids/young adults to also learn how to help their community. We had the pleasure of meeting one of fellow k-club members today.

Ask your child’s school about:
K-Kids (elementary), Builders Club (middle school), Key Club (high school), Circle K (college), and Aktion Club (adults with disabilities).

Thank you to our local Rouses Market in Slidell and their managers Alton and Mark for allowing us to collect donations of food Saturday for CCC.

Today we received our final total amount of weight in food. We collected 594 lbs!

Thank you so much to everyone who donated🥰 and who helped us to Spread The Love ❤️

Who is CCC:

Today Community Christian Concern operates a food pantry, a thrift store, a community garden and a transitional housing facility for homeless men and low income senior men. Our counselors will meet with each client to determine their individual needs, provide assistance with food, clothing and referrals to other appropriate agencies.

Each year we assist over 3000 individuals - Veterans, seniors, the disabled, the working poor, homeless persons and families, and a growing number of single families and grandparents raising grandchildren. This is why your support is so important to us. Please consider becoming a monthly donor so that we can fulfill our Vision to meet needs, inspire self-sufficiency, and build a stronger community.

Always looking for people to join our family! Come join us for lunch one month. Even just to be a visitor.

Wow….our Kiwanis Family did it again. SOLD OUT our butts to raise money for future projects that support kids in our community and we could not do it without our amazing family and friends, THANK YOU!!!

Another bathroom upgrade is in the books!
Our Kiwanis members worked hard this past week at Clearwood Jr High, transforming the 6th grade stalls with positive messages & good reminders. Junior high can be a tough time & we hope this little renovation makes them smile. 😊

Our club spent our Sunday morning doing a project we look forward to every year… Helping make a difference at Camp Bearable.

What is Camp Bearable?
It is a grief camp for kids ages 7-12 that have lost a loved one and need help coping with their grief. This special weekend gives these children a safe place to talk about their feelings, with their peers who understand how they feel. The Camp is sponsored by the amazing Hospice House.

🎉For Mother’s and Father’s Day, Camellia City Kiwanis held a raffle basket fundraiser with the help of YOU amazing citizens to raise money for future projects and to give back to kids in our community. We are excited to announce that we selected two families to receive a portion of the generous donations made to our club.

Cade Galatas was diagnosed with Cavernous Malformations in the brain on May 30, 2024. He has undergone a major surgery and is still on the road to recovery. He can’t wait to play sports again!

And

Avery Mullen a local 6 year old who is currently fighting leukemia. She still has two more years of chemotherapy. Avery is so excited her doctor is letting her attend school this year.

ALSO, This Saturday from 2-5pm at Camp Salmen they are holding a fundraiser for Avery. Please consider going and show your support to this beautiful young lady and her family. See attached flyer.
