🌎 Special Guest Readers in the Library! 🌎

Our students had some special guest readers this week! Our guests shared the joy of reading by reading stories in Spanish to all of our students. 🇪🇸📖

After reading, students had fun playing Lotería and learning while they played! 🎉

Some classes also had the opportunity to:

🌱 Make alverjitas

🔤 Translate Spanish words into English

🇲🇽🇨🇴🇪🇸 Learn about different Hispanic countries and their flags while playing Bingo

It was a fun-filled week of reading, learning, culture, and community! We are so thankful to our special guest readers for sharing their time, language, and culture with our students! ❤️📚🌎

Today, all of our staff were treated to snacks and drinks to kick off “Hispanic Heritage Month – Staff Appreciation!” These goodies were provided by the moms from the Libros & Cafecito book club, led by Mrs. Fernandez. We are so grateful for the delicious snacks and drinks, and especially for the time and effort these wonderful ladies put into making this special for our staff! ❤️

¡Hoy, todo nuestro personal disfrutó de deliciosos bocadillos y bebidas para dar inicio al “Mes de la Herencia Hispana – Agradecimiento al Personal”! Todo fue preparado con mucho cariño por las mamás del club de lectura Libros y Cafecito, dirigido por Mrs. Fernandez. ¡Estamos muy agradecidos por las bebidas, los bocadillos y, sobre todo, por el tiempo y dedicación que todas estas maravillosas mamás pusieron para hacer este detalle tan especial para nuestro personal! ❤️

Today, Mrs. Oberg’s Culinary class got hands-on practice with different cutting techniques using carrots, squash, onions, and potatoes! 🥕🧅🥔

Who knows…we might have some future 5-star chefs on our hands! ⭐️👨‍🍳

Parents, feel free to put your new personal chefs to work tonight and ask them to show off those newly learned skills! 😉🍽️

📚 Parents of 4th Grade Greyhounds! 🐾

Did you know your child may be eligible for $400 in online tutoring support through the Parent Access to Supplemental Supports (PASS) Program?

The PASS Program provides eligible parents/guardians with a $400 online grant that can be used to purchase approved tutoring services focused on reading growth.

To be eligible, students must:
📖 Currently be enrolled in 4th grade at a Texas public school
📝 Have participated in the 3rd Grade STAAR assessment
📊 Have not met the minimum passing standard on the assessment

Eligible parents/guardians can use their online account to shop the PASS marketplace for approved reading tutoring services.

Progress Reports were sent to parent portal accounts yesterday, August 31st at 4:00 PM. They are now available for you to log in and view at any time!

🔐 Having trouble logging in?
If you’ve forgotten your password, click “Forgot Password” and be sure to select the “Reset by Username” option. This is the option that will successfully reset your password.

🆕 NEW TO THE DISTRICT?
If you are new to Slidell ISD, your student is not automatically linked to your Parent Portal account. You will need to get your student’s new Portal ID from your campus secretary.

🏫 Elementary Parents:
Contact Mrs. Tiffany at the elementary campus or email [email protected].

🏫 Middle School & High School Parents:
Contact Ms. Kaitlyn or email [email protected].
