☺️☺️☺️ Otisville Elementary students recently transformed the art room into a bustling paper-making factory, proving that one person's scraps can serve as the basis become another person's future masterpiece!

After spending the year collecting tiny paper remnants, students sorted them by color, blended them into pulp, and brought new paper to life. Using screens, sponges, and plenty of patience, they pressed, shaped, and dried their handmade creations.

Each student will take home a unique piece of recycled paper, ready to be transformed into a brand-new work of art.

This wonderfully hands-on (and admittedly messy!) project was more than an art lesson—it was a lesson in sustainability, creativity, collaboration, and cooperation. The students learned firsthand that with a little teamwork and imagination, even the smallest scraps can be given a second life.

The Varsity Softball Team is officially on the road to Binghamton for the NYSPHSAA Softball FINAL FOUR, and the entire Minisink Valley community is behind them every step of the way!

Ladies, you've already shown what it means to battle through tough innings, come through in the clutch, and leave it all on the diamond. Now it's time to keep the rally going. Trust your teammates, trust your game, and keep stacking outs and runs one pitch at a time.

A heartfelt thank you to our amazing EMS fire and ambulance partners for giving our team an honor es**rt to Interstate 84 and to the New York State Police continuing with bus and es**rting the team to the Pennsylvania border!

The bus may be heading to Binghamton, but an entire community is riding shotgun!

Go make some memories, make some noise and keep this postseason run alive!

🤞🤞🤞Good luck, ladies — we're all rooting for you to turn this Final Four trip into a championship story!

👍👍👍Madison Wyman’s sixth-graders recently took their learning outdoors on a gorgeous day to observe the weather firsthand. Using their background knowledge of the atmosphere and air masses, they observed and recorded temperature, climate conditions, and cloud cover while making predictions based on their findings. Students stepped into the role of meteorologists as they applied their science skills to real-world weather observations! Well-done, everyone!

Sixth-graders study meteorology because it helps them understand how weather works and how it affects everyday life. By learning about topics such as temperature, clouds, precipitation, wind, and storms, students gain a better understanding of Earth's atmosphere and the natural processes that shape weather patterns. Meteorology also teaches important scientific skills, including observing, collecting data, analyzing information, and making predictions. Studying weather helps students see the connection between science and real-world events while building a foundation for future learning about climate, the environment, and Earth systems.

Good afternoon, Minisink Valley:

Like you, we’re aware of and monitoring the forecast for extreme heat conditions for tomorrow, June 11, and Friday, June 12. We continue to follow reputable weather forecasting as we may need to consider adjustments to dismissal times in the coming days.

Our Buildings & Grounds team continues to work around the clock to keep our buildings as cool as possible. Already, plans are being implemented to rotate classes into areas of our buildings where there are air conditioning options. We’re also using high powered fans to keep air flow going at all times.

Please be sure your child dresses appropriately for the weather and while cold water is always available, pack extra water for your child in the coming days.

However, this is a good time to review your plans for your child in the event of an early dismissal. You need to be sure your child fully understands these plans as well. If we need to dismiss school early due to extreme heat weather issues, this information would be communicated via our website, page, app notification and recorded calls to your home. We always plan to give you as much advance notice as possible.

Our continued practice is to closely monitor several reputable weather forecasting outlets regarding forecast updates. We also consult with and rely on the good, sound professional judgment of our Buildings & Grounds and Administrative teams regarding building usage. The well-being and safety of our students and staff remain our first priority.

Thank you for your attention to this important information. We look forward to spending these final weeks of school with your children.
