Flood Relief Supplies Available – Skykomish & Baring Fire Stations

The American Red Cross has delivered flood relief supplies to the Skykomish Fire Station. Available supplies include totes, tarps, garbage bags, rakes, shovels, and flood kit buckets (used for removing flooded drywall).

The rakes, shovels, totes, and flood kit buckets are located between the station buildings—please feel free to take what you need.

Tarps and garbage bags are stored inside the station to keep them dry. We are available daily from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM to assist with loading or to provide access to tarps and garbage bags.

We are going to do a convoy for those that want to get out of the area. We will leave the Deli at 1245. If it is your plan to come back up later, it is unknown if they will continue to let folks go through or when the official re-open is. There still may be unseen hazards, there is some trees partially blocking, crews working and things could still happen at any moment so please use caution and reduced speed.

Hope everyone is staying safe out there. If not familiar the water will start to come over the highway at the bottom of Grotto strait away and close the Highway. The water has started to come onto highway. If you are planning to leave West I would do it soon. Let us know if you need any assistance and keep an eye on your neighbors.

Please be advised that planned and prescribed slash burns began today managed by WA DNR, October 22, 2025. These controlled burns are a standard forest management practice used to safely remove logging slash—dead and downed timber left behind after logging operations.
The purpose of these burns is to reduce fuel loads in the forest, decreasing the risk of future wildfires, and to promote healthy soil conditions for the regeneration of trees and native vegetation.
Today's burn locations include:
• West of Miller River RD
Smoke may be visible from Highway 2, Skykomish, and surrounding areas.
